Forums - Sony - Naughty Dog : Uncharted would have been a different game without the PS3.

Played Uncharted 2 last night and.......THEY'RE RIGHT!

The cutscenes (but you can't tell they're cutscenes because they use the game's engine) are HD FMV's! I went back and watched some of them using the options screen. I said to myself, "Damn, these things are loading fast!" They shouldn't be able to load the environments, characters, and such in less than a second! They had to be videos.

The thing that really gave it away was the character skins. I'd be playing as Doughnut Drake or Chloe, and right in the middle of gameplay, they'd turn back into normal Nathan as something spectacular was happening, and then turn back into Chloe or Doughnut as soon as it ended.

With the amount of FMV and bonus cutscenes (at HD resolution, too), I know the 360 couldn't hold it all on one disc.

I was wrong.

I'm not much of a tech person in this but are you sure that is because of disc space?? They did fully fill in a blue ray disc, but thats mostly because of the amount of textures and audios.

ND said the game requires no installation and no loading screen because they did all the post - processing effects on the SPUs (Synergistic Processing Unit). since the cell processor is the only microprocessor has SPUs, and the game is specifically designed to take advantage of it, we can never know if it would be the same game on other platforms can we??

I assume (and by no means am I one of those "technical guys") that the addition of a HDD in every PS3 means that the next FMV is loaded and ready to go. In single player, the transition is seamless.

Your second paragraph is probably true, too. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of programming techniques. But, ND has no reason to lie.

what you know, you learn something everyday

after seen how spectacualr Uncharted 2 turns out to be, this "ice team" will have much greater impact on first party games than I previously thought.

i played it yesterday and this game is super hyped...
another effort from the press to save the ps3
especially the multiplayer is a joke
reminded me of the conduit and shits like that i mean cmon lol are we in 1995?
this game doesnt deserve a score more than 7 or 8/10
boring
i cant believe some people here comparing it to Halo

Nice to hear your opinion. It's a pity that for 6Billion+ people your opinion doesn't matter and the opion of the official reviewers does.

one day you will understand that this game doesnt deserve the scores that is taking...
the same happened to GTA IV
and this moment will come in 4-5 months when they hype will end.
i can wait.. i did for GTA as well and happened
now go waste your time with this overrated tomb raider meets gears of war clone and come here after 4 months complaining that the game wasnt that amazing..
i can see it coming :)

I can see something else coming.

Are we talking about the same Super Nes that used Mode 7 scaling and rotation? The one that could only render flat surfaces in 3D and couldn't render hills and tunnels without the Super FX chip? The one that had Stunt Race FX and Starfox where you could literally count how many polygons the models were made of?

I was about to say the same thing... I still say that the SNES is my favorite console ever, but saying that a game like Uncharted 2 could have been made on the SNES with inferior graphics is just wrong...
