So far they`ve released their games on x360 ad DS.
So, these two are the most likely platforms to be.
I would be suprised, if that will be PS3, Wii, PSP or PS360 game.

And none of these hold a candle to the RPGs of last gen, and none of them hold a candle to the RPGs of the PS1/PC era. |
Well I think this gen is the best for WRPGs.
@bloodwalker
I know, but even those sales are horrible for DS games and it's not like Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey didn't make a profit. They sold good and they even got help from MS during the developement stage and with later advertisement.
I can't believe that all their DS games gave them a bigger profit than their 360 games. No way.

It is hands down the best RPG of this generation. And this generation has had its fair share of amazing RPGs: Fallout, Mass Effect, Oblivion. None of those games hold a candle to Lost Odyssey. |
And how is that? It doesn't have very impressive gameplay, and even if it did, best RPG would already be a stretch. I prefer Japanese RPGs to western ones, and I would still place Oblivion way above Lost Odyssey.
Always so little information. Sakaguchi! Games > Blogs.
Come on man! Before you get to old and Ueamtsus talent goes away.
:( But yeah if the announce and revelead theier new game for a HD console, im happy as hell!
LO 2 or a game thats got the class of it, likely, A true JRPG is back once more time!
Lost Odyssey was successful. Since when is 800k+ sales a failure for a jrpg? Especially for a new IP? Look at the sales figures of different games in the genre. Lost Odyssey sold very well. Blue Dragon also sold over half a million and was the 360's most successful game in Japan. RPGs are actually pretty niche outside of the main big established IPs. They are not as successful as you think they are. Just look at the sales. See this is the thing. People see that Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon, Monster Hunter, etc. sells well worldwide so they just assume that the genre in general is just incredibly popular. Trust me, Sakaguchi must be very pleased that 800,000+ people bought Lost Odyssey. Expecting Lost Odyssey to be a Final Fantasy killer is like expecting Killzone to be a Halo killer. Not going to happen overnight, if ever.
I could see them developing for the Wii (with a new IP with a different publisher). Wii rpgs haven't been selling very well but Mistwalker could sell enough to generate a profit. Of course they could just as easily develop for the 360 and let MS publish so that they can handle the bill again.
I just hope that Mistwalker's new game is NOT an MMO. Please no. Online co-op is fine but no MMOs please.
Lost Odyssey is very good RPG. It was refreshing to play a "Final Fantasy" game that didn't suck for once. The depth of the characters was refreshing and the thousand year dreams allowed you to have deeper understanding of why each character was the way they were. The overall story itself is standard fare and that is the only thing that keeps the game from classic status. The game actually provides a challenge. Most JRPGs these days have little to no difficulty at all.

I was actually very impressed by the gameplay. It reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy X. Your traditional JRPG with a few tweaks here and there. The battle system was pretty sweet, and while the Ring system was not as immersive as they said it would be, I still found it fun. The graphics were gorgeous, and the story was told very nice. I never thought I would enjoy reading in a video game, but 1000 years of dreams changed that for me completely.
It had a siiiiiiiiiiick world map which is something I personally miss from the good old Final Fantasy days.
Grinding was near impossible, which is extremely nice to see in a JRPG. In Lost Odyssey, it was practically impossible to level up your characters to the point of destroying bosses. By making leveling up hard, boss fights actually required strategy.
I don't know, these are the things that made the game a highlight for me. Obviousley when I say best RPG of this generation hands down, I mean in my opinnion. Critically, Lost Odyssey was not recieved anywhere near as well as the games I listed. But personally, it ranks above all of them for me.

Yeah, most of the people claim that Lost Odyssey had great gameplay because it successfully replicated games from many years ago. Don't blame me if I'm unimpressed. While that may work for some genres, JRPGs seriously need to move forward, and Lost Odyssey has a very barebones combat system. The Ring system loses significance very quickly in the game (physical attacks losing importance versus magic), and even then, it's not like I was having fun timing it correctly anyways. The graphics were great, and the story was great (up until a certain point, which I won't spoil), but those things don't matter to me at all if the gameplay doesn't impress. Final Fantasy 10 had party swapping, interactive limit breaks, aeons, and the sphere grid. The most interesting thing Lost Odyssey has is skill linking, and even that manages to make the game less interesting. The mortal characters are pretty much useless once you get all 4 mortals, and the game becomes incredibly easy after the first couple bosses. I don't really care if grinding is impossible, it's just another thing that limits the player. And even with a limit on grinding, the game is still easy. You don't need to limit grinding to make the game require strategy. In my opinion, it would be up there with the best RPGs of the generation had it not been for the average gameplay. Had it had exceptional gameplay, it might have been one of my favorite games ever. But the reviews pretty much show the quality of the game in this case.
I still think that every game with classic turnplay gameplay rapes every action-jrpg.
BLUE DRAGON + LOST ODYSSEY FTW !!!!!

Oh man, I've never run into that. Glad I never needed to refresh.
OT: I think it'll be a portable title.
