I dont care if Gears 2 had pokemon n64 graphics or crysis graphics, the game is shit to me, i never said 360 graphics were better than PS3. and all of MGS4 textures (of what i seen, i did play the game) were flat and not detailed at all, much like GTA 4.

 

I just pointed out that MGS4 wasnt god on earth in blue ray disc form

 

Uncharted 2 is the best lookin console game tho, ill give you that :)

Actually for an open world game I think GTA4's graphics are extremely good.

Hey, Steroid! That top pic that you posted had to be from when the textures were loading in. I don't remember GeoW ever looking like that, ever! And I've used the camera to follow people around, in Gears 2 multi player and I never saw characters looking that shabby. But like Garnett said, that's not the point. Gears 2 is THE SHIT.

True, True. This would apply to most console shooters though right (Far Cry 2 excluded)? But I think what I was trying to say is that PC really does not have that many games yet that take advantage of its superior power to the consoles. Sure, there are games like Crysis (the only one that comes to mind atm). But consoles have games like Gears 2, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Forza 3 and MGS4. And I'm not even mentioning upcoming games like Alan Wake and Heavy Rain.

So yes, PC is far superior to consoles as far as graphical capabilities go. But what is the use of this if all the amazing looking games are on consoles and there are only few games like Crysis which take advantage of better graphics and an open world?

There are a handful of PC games which I feel, at their highest settings, are better looking than the best console has to offer. And that list will only expand as developers start taking advantage of DirectX 11. 

The bolded part I completely agree. PC is going to start pulling away from consoles soon. But the consoles are almolst 3-4 years old. I expected this to happen a long time ago. I disagree with the fact that there are games that look better than U2, Killzone, Gears 2, Forza, Gran Turismo, on their highest setting on PC. The only games I can think of is Crysis and maybe one or two more. I guess it does boil down to opinnion.

I think Gears 2 is easily one of the best looking games of this gen but no game is perfect and no D12 it's not a shot from when the textures are loading in though that is another reason that Gears 2 gets many points taken away from it's graphics king status.

Yet I would never say Gears 2 looks like crap because it has a few crappy textures, but a lot of the people who hate on MGS4 go looking for low rez shots of the game or find the worst picture possible and use it to troll on a great looking game.

Hey, I don't agree with Gears 2 looking better than MGS4. Why did MGS4 win many best graphics awards? I'm not trying to be a prick, but I for one, "don't agree on that".

A lot of people here think that MGS4 had some great, but flawed graphics. Most notably the textures. Of course it's all opinion, but Gears 2 won a lot of graphics awards too I'd bet, and I think that most people, when we had a discussion on the subject, thought Gears 2 was a flat out winner.

In reality, I've played them back to back, and Gears 2 really does have better graphics, imo. Uncharted 1 has better graphics than MGS4.

Yeah, both games got a good number of best graphics award. And yeah, I clarified it's just my opinion, but at the same time, it is debatable.

 

The part that really wow'ed me graphics-wise was the fight with Ocelot at the very end.

 

This is one thing I never quite understood: People say Uncharted 1 has some of the best graphics ever (which I agree with), but it didn't win many awards. Instead, the runner-ups were Mass Effect (which does look great), Assassin's Creed, Crysis, and Call of Duty 4, I believe (I think BioShock too). Now MGS4, on the other hand, won quite a lot of best graphics awards along with Gears of War 2, but people seem to claim that Gears of War 2 had the better graphics hands down, like it's an undebatable fact. They're pretty close, IMHO.

They claim the textures are crap, apparently. I only see that as the case with the online, frankly.
