Kojima doesn't control a lot. His bosses at Konami determine, for example, to which platforms MGS4 will be ported.

So they ONLY went to Kojima or have they went to other companies too? Or they have went to other companies, just Kojima only? |
I am sorry Soriku I wish I had more news but he doesn't want to say more to me.
Also when I know him he will not say more to me X_X. But if he ever tell me something about
Kingdom Hearts 3 you will be the first one to know it okay?

They obviously went to other companies Soriku. It's not like this is fuedal japan where it takes them forever to travel to the regional lords laying gifts of food and money down at their feet.
They area likely scheduleing sit downs with all the top 20 or so third party developers and having them to lunch meetings, games of golf and board meetings where they are basically saying.
"Ok things are rough now, but bear with us, trust us we're gonna turn it around, thanks to the 40 gig and other unannounced secret."
Also probably offering to cut back the amount of royalties they collect.

He says that Kojima heared the pleases of Sony.

But Kojima does have influence in Konami, just like Miyamoto has influence at Nintendo.

Doesnt Nintendo now offer extremely good developer support? I know they were retarded about third parties in the SNES era but I thought that had passed? |
I believe that it has as well.
I can see Sony being desperate for stronger 3rd party support. But pleading seems to show a lack of confidence in your platform, not sure if that is a good move if it is found to be true. I suppose we'd need more info before making any conclusions anyhow.
| leo-j said: So some random guy says SONY IS BEGGING DEVELOPERS TO DEVELOPE ON THE PS3! sure... Im going to believe that. |
Yeah, some random guy. Or some well respected journalist who covers the video game industry.
We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai
It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps
We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick
| HappySqurriel said: "Plead" is probably the wrong word but that's not to say his story is inaccurate ... Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are all always in contact with third party publishers emphasizing their strenghts and minimizing their weakness' in order to secure development for thier platforms. Right now Nintendo's two main strengths are that they have a larger userbase and smaller development costs which are an impressive combination that is likely having an impact on publishers. Realistically speaking Sony has no numbers which will justify producing a PS3 game rather than a Wii game and may now be resorting to "Pleading" with third party publishers ... |
