the game got a 9.3, that's an excellent score. Enough with the bitching about every freaking thing lately.

As has already been mentioned people aren't complaining so much about the score as they are about what they see as bias on the part of gametrailers. I'm not necessarily saying that they are biased but you can certainly make a case for it:
GT Metacritic GT Metacritic
Bioshock 95 96 -1 Uncharted 2 93 97 -4
Halo 3 98 94 +4 Little Big Planet 94 95 -1
Gears of War 91 94 -3 MGS4 93 94 -1
Gears of War 2 95 93 +2 Killzone 2 92 91 +1
Mass Effect 96 91 +5 MLB The Show 88 90 -2
GTA 4 Lost & D 92 90 +2 Ratchet and Clank Tod 90 89 +1
Forza 2 91 90 +1 Demons Souls 89 90 -1
+10 -7
Wasn't Gametrailers the site previously caught redhanded before

All bow to me the VGChartz current reigning 3DS prediction champion
Bet with tbone51: Pokeon X & pokemon Y will not sell more than 8 million in 2013

I forgot all about that.
But it also brought another GameTrailer's thing to mind with the "bias" thing going on.

Anyone else remember this?

lol the PC itself is a Play.Create.Share Genre is what's known. You forgot to mention Bungie did this over 2 years ago!! That's called evolving standards, not double. Innovative in it's gameplay mechanics, bro. Mentioned that on last page, reviewer said he just didn't find that change in Uncharted 2 (which gameplay from the first one wasn't great to begin with) And yet your only complaining about that while GTAIV gets 10's on Gamespot and others, while U2's getting 9.5 and what not. Should've you be yelling double standards about that at them too while your at it? Or just the website that gives U2 a great score of 9.3?

WHAT gameplay wasn't?
GREAT platforming, GREAT TPS WITH COVER SYSTEM ,impressive close combat AND STEALTH KILLING.
they nail each of them. NAILED THEM, RIP THEM APART remade them and owned them.
besides it have nice storytelling, cinema mode, great graphics and smooth framerate and controls.
everything in halo 3, was in other FPS, space marines low quality story ? check, co op 4 players? check, on the n64, online? done before!.
GTA IV is GTA 3 + online which they added a cellphone with advertising.
and gears 2, pretty much the same, if you tell horde mode was impressive you should see how i rocked "zombies ate your neightboors" in the snes.
and they are saying uncharted 2 can't get more because lack of innovation yet other games doesn't half u2 dont?, not even that , they post about how people bitch about it?
dude you are releaving why the game got a lack score at least make it believeable.

What are you serious? How is it "innovation" to copy something that ALREADY EXISTED?!?!?! |
Because of the platform.
Is Xbox live not innovative because we could game online on PC's before?
Is the Iphone or Itouch not innovative because we could game on gameboys before?
All of the things halo 3 brought that Towlie mentioned never have been done on a HOME CONSOLE, that is the innovative part, perhaps progression, but then we are just splitting hairs.
You cant just say, "ive done X before so if its done again its copied" There are many things that go into innovation.

I like how Gears of War, which had some amazing new innovations for a 3rd person console title, is one of the red scores on the X360 front. Musta been "okay" in every other department, according to GT, but not good enough to warrent a 9.x without its innovation?
Hmm and BioShock scored in the red too. Considering that System Shock 2, and its predecessors, had never seen a console before... again the game was "okay" except the innovation cranked it up a notch?
I think 9.3 is fine for U2, personally. But I think that Halo 3, Halo ODST, Gears 2, and GTA IV all scored way, way too high, especially going by "innovation". Is Halo ODST really within 0.4 points of U2, being another game which basically just focuses on delivering solid, instead of delivering new? I don't think so.
God of War III, max GT score 9.3, confirmed. Gears 3, minimum GT score 9.6, confirmed. I'm still trying to understand the innovation in Gears 2 that pushed it to a 9.5, relative to its predecessor, or any other game, for that matter.
GT has a right to their opinion guys. I think that everyone just needs to decide whether or not its worth listening too. I'm kinda thinking... no, but that's just me, personally.
This is the saddest, sack of shit thread this site has had in a long time. Congrats Soriku. The Ubisoft boycott has competition.
Anyhoos, just to attempt to put an end to this:
Uncharted received an 89 from Gametrailers and the sequel got a 93. Gears of War got a 91 from Gametrailers and the sequel got a 95. In both cases, the sequels got a 4% increase even without innovating. Is that fair enough?
Regarding GTA IV and Halo 3, both were the first in the series this gen, so everything had a nice coat of polish on it, and that counts for something. Both Gears and Uncharted are on their second games this gen, and the standards to differentiate are higher for both. It seems regardless of the speech used, Gametrailers has treated both fairly equally, even though it was surely accidental.
I think the real problem isn't that they worded their explanation poorly, it's that they had to provide an explanation in the first place just because complete morons felt the need to complain about a 9.3. You, including those bitching in this thread, are the problem with the review system.

I completely disagree.
The gaming industry media's review system suffers from the same "score inflation" that college grades suffer from, except that in college's case, the scores were inflated to keep kids out of Vietnam. In the gaming media's case, scores are inflated to further their own site hits, by inciting as many forum arguments as possible. =)
Honestly, a 6.0 should be a pretty decent score, on any site. Perhaps GT is trying to undo the "10.0s for everyone" problem that has cropped up in the last few years, and they've just decided to start with games like KZ2 and U2.
