Forums - Sony - Demon's Souls is better then Oblivion

I just wish this game comes to EU some year... -_-

don't feel like importing and playing on asia/us-servers with horrible lag.

Does a lil lag really matter in this game? What is it that would be lagging anyway? As I understand you only get advice and stuff from other players thorugh a server, but the game with it's monster movements and positions is all genererated on your own PS3.

Demon's Souls is better then Oblivion and Fallout 3 and Pretty much every RPG this gen.

Delusional anyone? Demon Souls didn't score higher on average than Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 will just blow it away. Fallout 3 is a great game that continues to get good updates. Demon Souls isn't even a GOTY or best PS3 game candidate. There is no way it will be better than Dragon Age Origins.

I was about to say, metacritic and gameranking disagree. Given I haven't play Oblivion to comment on that game.

Oblivion -- incredibly too easy.

Demons Soul --  incredibly too hard.

I only look at music and movie ratings on Metacritic. Too many fanboys go in there distorting rival brands top games. Its down-right dangerous to have an opinion expressed in votes on that site. It's like Gametrailers.com voting system for videos.

first I like to comment on the guy talking about dragon age. Already praising the game before he even played it saying it's guaranteed to be better? that seems a bit strange seeing as you haven't played it. The only review I read said that the story branches out for the classes for the first couple of hours than it comes together. No where have I read that their is 120 hours of gameplay I read like 40 to 70. Which is still alot IMO but still not what you said. Now to demon's souls. and oblivion. I love Oblivion and demon's souls both. I can't tell you which one is better But the feeling I got for playing demon's souls I never had in another game. I got connected with my character and really concentrated on every aspect of the game. It's a lot of fun but it's a different experience than Oblivion. No need to compare they are both great... leave it at that

The J man would rather play a phenomenal rpg that is 30 hours , than a crappy 100 hour rpg.

No matter how long the game lasts is not indicative of the games quality because  those 30 hours the J man spent on Mass Effect was the greatest experience the J man has ever had this gen.

(And by the way your friend is BS, it is impossible to finish the whole game in 15 hours.......not even the main quest is that short)

that's my save file from the start of the final battle with saren at 14h 4m on my first playthrough. I'd hardly call Mass Effect a 30 hour rpg though.

Still a really fun game, but was easily beatable in under 15 hours and I was by no means rushing it. After some laughable side quests (ie: go to planet x training facility and disable drones, go to planet y and talk to make some guy abandon his cult) I had enough of that rubbish. I'll definately get the second though.

I heard what truly hurt the review scores of Demons Souls was the story board. Dragon Age will have an extremely deep story arch with various directions. The gameplay already looks great with control over four players of different  classes, the delivery and voice acting seem top notch as well. I agree that Demon Souls is probably great but I have to play it and with all the games coming out I hope to buy it soon.

Actually DS tells a great story. This game shows a perfect example of how a video game can tell a story.

DS tells its story through its fantastic gameplay and immersion.

I understand these days but telling a story through mainly though gameplay and  immersion alone can render a game generic. Thats probably why the game didn't score like 9.5 and so on and so forth. It looks like a great game at its core for sure though.

I am not against cut-scenes and great voice acting, thats why I am a big fan of MGS4. However DS shows how you can do it with pure gameplay too.

I agree with your comment about the danger of being generic but DS somehow avoids that.

I think its because with its intense gameplay, makes the world so real that you truly start caring about any story elements that you find.

One example about the amazing gameplay, with a 0 level character I found a long sword, meant for much higher level characters.

I could actually equip and wield it. However my strength being too low, I took too much time in delivering blows with that weapon rendering it effectively useless.

Now tell me isn't this so much better then a generic screen saying "You cannot euip that item yet."

After all in  real world no one can stop me from using the sword, but if I am not strong enough to handle its weight then I can't really swing it fast enough.

These small touches make the game experience so much more real.

Dragon Age Origins will have over 120 hours of gameplay.

Dude you don't have to pitch Demons Souls to me. I am already loving the idea of playing it. My malfunction is I am utterly blown away by what I've seen and read about from Dragon Age Origins. That game is just the total package as far as WRPG's are concerned. I used to hate WRPG's last gen. This gen I love them more than JRPG's.

that would be the first link I seen. The other sources I read one was actually a review put that game at around 40 hours. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I think 40 hours is more than enough as long as the game is good. I just can't get so too excited about a game that isn't even out yet, saying it's going to be better than anything else. I like demon's souls a lot it's a good game you should give it a try, it truly offers a unique gaming experience it's really hard to explain.
