Just the 360 version of Prototype had equal sales, despite being dispersed amongst platforms, AND it had worse reviews.
Still, while I think Prototype sold above average for its bullet points, that means, Infamous sold average. |
The bolded part is weird.
Logic would say that the platform element disadvantage is for inFamous, being that every PS3 owner could buy it or Prototype, where each 360 owner could only buy Prototype.
Your reasoning only holds for owners of both 360 and PS3, which is only a fraction, where 100% of PS3 owners had the choice between the games.

The bolded part indicates that people who have a 360 might have instead pirated the game from PC or bought it on PS3. The sales for the 360 version were hurt because it was a multiplat. Infamous sales(as with most PS3 exclusives) are helped on that single platform, because it isn't available somewhere else. In other words, if Infamous was a multiplat, it wouldn't have sold as much ON THE PS3. If Prototype was an exclusive, it would have sold more ON THE 360. All in all, Prototype sold much better despite less hype, probably less advertising, and certainly lower reviews, no matter what kind of bow you want to put on it.
The question is why? Did the PS3 hold it back, or the game itself? Was it marketing? Does it matter?
Prototype is now a marketable franchise.
