Lol @ the damage control in this threadf. I'm sorry, but the GC pricecut back in 2003 ressembles much more the X360 pricecut in 2008 - managed to beat its competitor for some months while still far away from the market leader.

The PS3 had a long-waited pricecut, a hardware revision and it's sucessor the most successful console of all time. I't obvious it will do better than the X360 and much, much closer to the Wii. You can quote me on this.

Thanks for the incite haxxiy. You do have to consider though that the GameCube fought the apparent market decline for that year though, both the competitors had drops YoY through the holidays while GameCube was up 70% worldwide.

So I'd say it had more of an impact than what you make out.

lol people still under estimate the ps3 after all this! theres no way the ps3 will settle around 150k like most people are saying, remember after the last price cut in 2007, it settled around 160-170k for a big chunk of 2008 and thats when it was $400! now its $300. i think it will settle around 200k

Don't mind me but wouldn't a comeback mean I don't know staying in first place from now on and hell even taking first place overall.

thats a distinct possibility, though(I think)majority of DS owners are Nintendo fans, casuals, or kids; Nintendo fans already own Wiis, casuals will only buy a console if they really want it, not because of one game they like has a sequel on it, and only handful of DS owning kids would get a Wii for Chrismas presents. I still stand my opinion about NSMB, but you made a good point, I never have thought about the possible DS effect, lets wait and see then, it will be FFXIII bundles vs Wii in Japan.

Yeah, if PS3 outsells Wii by this amount for the next 500 weeks then its the greatest comeback ever. I don't think we're going to see Wii drop below 275,000/week after the price drop. So except for the possibility of FFXIII week in Japan the order should be the DS > Wii > PS3 > 360 > PSP > PS2 for the rest of the year, although not entirely sure where to place the Go yet.

I do think there is a pretty good chance PS3 will outsell X360 each worldwide for the rest of 2009.

Keep your eye on whatever Wii does in October - when PS3 had its first price drop in early Oct 2007 it quadrupled from Oct to Nov in North America. That kind of jump is pretty likely with Wii at $200 for the first time.
