I quite like football, I don't love or hate it.... oh and its football, soccer doesn't exist :P

Doesn't count? The AFL has the 4th highest average crowd attendence of all sporting leagues in the world. More than the English Premier League & Major League Baseball. Pretty impressive when you take into account there are only 21 million people in Australia compared to 300+ million in the USA & 60 million in UK.
It used to be 3rd until the recent forming of the Indian 20-20 Cricket Premier League which has under 60 games a season, but pulls in big numbers to each game.
There are multiple games of 90+ thousand that attended a regular season game against two local suburbs of Melbourne. The Grand Final had over 100,000 attend last year, and will likely do the same again in the grand final that is held today.
If the AFL is irrelevant because it's only played predominantly in one country, then the same applies for the NFL.

This post is very funny. First, the Major League soccer sucks and should not be used as an example of THE NEW WORLD or any other league in the world.
Second, Mexico and all south america, which are a group of countries that are very VERY important to football compared to the US, call it football, so thats the term the new world actually uses for their favorite sport.
Third, the UK created it and they call it football, so thats its name. Oh and the rest of the world call it football and that matters a hell lot more than just a couple of countries that arent even good at it.

Out of interest does somebody know why american football is called football?
A game beeing played without a ball and almost no feet (except running) called football seems strange to me.

I like Pes far more than Fifa. I like the unpredictability in Pes (bouncing/heavy ball). Fifa feels like dancing on ice "ball = balloon". I still think Fifa is much easier which is good, if you don't want to focus that much. Pes is much harder in my opinion.
Fifa has a lot of good stuff nice features and so on. Their basic gameplay is well "casual". It appeals to more people. EA wants sales simple as that.
Let me ask you this "what makes a game sell like hot cakes?". Make it easy so that many people can play it? Or make it very difficult for the average person? (but more realistic)
You have to look from a publisher perspective. Then you will learn how they make their money. It's an endless discussion in which PES will always lose and always has. Forums have always been pro fifa. This is an economic approach with experience since the start of 3D soccer/football games.

Whaaaaa??? We can argue 2008 and 2009 (I still think that PES 2009 is much better than Fifa 09, at least PC versions), but I think everyone accepts it as a fact that PES owned Fifa in all the PS2 iterations |
I'll second that "whaaaaaa?". Fifa has always had it over PES in presentation and style, but has nearly always played the poorer game according to the vast majority of people who know anything about, play or like football. There may have been several years in the last ten where FIFA got close enough to make it a contest but prior to 2008 i don't think FIFA was ever the better game.

FIFA 98 and FIFA 99 were pretty good.
maybe they played the Wii version because it's control is absolutely awesome!
