Forums - Gaming - Ridiculous IGN FIFA 2010 review.

I agree with this review. Played Fifa 09, and the Fifa10 demo.

And fifa10 is much better than fifa09 (ballphysics look and feel awesome, graphics slightly better, player movement feels more natural, normal tackles are more realistic -> fouls for pushing, view on corners is optimized)

dont know about offside decisions and online mode yet.
One thing i always critisized fifa for was the average difficulty in career/manager mode (37-1-0 on highest difficulty) and the lack of manager features itself (after upgrading a 30k stadion to a 80k powerhouse the intro of the stadion incl sound of supporters is still the same???). Dont know if that changed by now, but the gameplay is the best 2 date imo.

After playing fifa10 demo i tried the pes10 demo. That was one of the biggest letdowns.

Back in the day i prefered PES, but with this iteration i favour FIFA!!!

I just got a bit angry that he had the nerve to call FIFA not a football game but a soccer game & then say Madden is a football game.

The whole world except for america sees soccer as football & calls it that.

Madden isn't a football game, soccer isn't football either. Football is my national sport, but people in other countries call it Rugby.

This is confusing enough without adding in Oceanic variations on games.

American football is one game (usually just called football in USA/Canada)

Football is one game (called soccer in USA/Canada.... Aus/N.Z too?)

Rugby is another game (well 2 in reality, as there is League and Union rugby with different rules/number of players)

Then what we in the UK call Aussie rules football seems to be a (quite violent) cross between football and rugby, at least from what I know about it. I would guess this is what you are referring to but feel free to correct me.

I'm from Australia where we play all of the above sports and if someone other than an Australian says "football" i would assume they are talking about the one with 11 players a side and a round ball and i'd be right most of the time.

In Australia, football is Australian Rules Football, and because it is the more popular sport and for convenience the other football is called soccer.  The Americans have a similar situation with American Football or whatever it is they like to call it.

But as for Kiwis calling Rugby, football, that's kinda new to me.  Here, Rugby is usually in reference to the 15 man game and the 13 man version is just called League. Squill is referring to Rugby (Union).

Anyway before i confuse even more people i will go back to my original point and say that for most countries in the world (that don't have another popular form of ball sport played using the feet), football refers to the game played in FIFA.

so as two of them were invented in England, I think we should stick to their original names right?

By the way, I thought the PES 2010 demo sucked also (it just sucked a little bit less).

A 9.3 puts it up there with PES 6, which it is not. Just like the Halo: ODST 4/10 review was ridiculous, this review is also.

Live in denial and fight the reality, after all, you're on the internet... But no matter how much you try to deny the fact, FIFA2k10 is the best football game today. That is until next years new instalment to the series.

@darth

yeah lets, imperialism ftw!

and that other game invented in the colonies doesnt even count.

LOL!

agreed!

Having played both games demos, i felt the PES2010 demo better. But comparisons right now would be meaningless since we haven't played the full games anyway. Saying that one or the other is better (full game-wise) is illogical at best.
Myself, i'll get PES2010 because i can't get into the gameplay of FIFA, but that's just personal preference and not because i dislike FIFA, hell, i even play it once in a while with a couple of friends ;)

Ynwa.

It's IGN. When you ignore Wii games, their average has got to be over 7.5. 9.3 is not all that good a score from them

A PES fan boy unhappy Fifa 10 received a high review score? Anyway Soccer is well Soccer. You either love it or hate it. The choice is: Fifa for fully licensed teams and new modes or PES for partially licensed teams and the same old game for the past 5 years?
