After studying the Charts on VGCharts, I suprised noticed that, looking at the European Hardware sales chart (not total others), Sonys console only is 26.891 sales behind MSs console. Using the momentum of PS3s price reduction it will have outsold the X360 allready, but since the datas are from 12th September we still do not know it now. This would mean SONY was able to close the gap existing at PS3s release that was about 2,5m.

Considering that I wonder if the PS3 will be able to outsell X360 in Total Others Sales by end of the year.

Which means that Sony has to sell 1.137.649 PS3s more than Microsoft is selling their console. Considering that there are 15 weeks to go and one week with unreleased data. It seems possible if the PS3 is able to maintain 3/4 of the acctual selling difference.

The only place where it doesn't have a chance against the 360 is the US. GT5 will definately boost the sales in EU.

I think it is a given that if GT5 does release this year then the PS3 will overtake the 360 in Others total sales, but if not there is still a chance... just a much less likely one lol

The PS3 outsold the 360 for much of 2008 in the UK. It definitely has a chance of grabbing second place. The UK may not be as PS-friendly as the rest of Europe (any more) but it's not as one sided as, say, the USA.

GT5 will be the nail in the coffin, just like FFXIII is going to be the nail in the coffin for Japan.
