Forums - Sony - GT5 2009 release is becoming another worst kept secret special from Sony

ohh kids.

GT5 can be announced a week before its release and it will kill everything sales wise.

The hardcore GT and racer fans have been drooling over it and waiting for years. They need no ads to buy it they just need to know when to rush to the stores. They can ramp up ads after release, the first millions will come even with out a single ads for it.

They are not going to announce the release date yet, because they want the GT game for the PSP to sell A LOT!. If Sony announce the release date, some fans would wait instead and buy GT5. At least that is what I think

It's just stupid to announce a game like this so late.
If it's really coming out in 2009 (which I still don't think) then Sony made another fail move.

As I'm unwrapping my copy of GT5 this December, I'm going to pause and smile in reflection on this bit of trolling.

It's neither late, nor stupid, and it's going to dominate this holiday season. Enjoy your triple serving of crow.

lol I bet my ass that I'll have my copy waaaaay before you.

The other 2 gave at least reasons. You just act like a fanboy cause you're attacking me for thinking different.

So on the PS Blog showing the latest advert someone suggested that a GT5 commercial should also be made. Someone working at Sony answered that they have a GT5 commercial ready. Unless they are making an advert a year in advance it is surely more evidence that GT5 is a 2009 release. Add common sense to that (it saying that GT5 would sell PS3 systems in all regions and EU in particular) and it seems 2009 is very likely.

It's also no secret that I will be so bitter if it's a 2010 release.

Well.. advertising sense says that it takes a few months to get a commercial approved across the world... different countries different rules.. it's not like you send a commercial in and it gets approved the next day.. still could be a 2009 release but making a commercial months & months before a product is finished is not strange.. Hell.. I'm actually working on something for the world cup football in South Africa 2010 right now..

Hope this game sells well in NA though; it's not even in the top 40 for pre-orders! The GT franchise is a shadow of what it once was in NA.

I'm more then sure the game will sell in the millions though in EU = MORE GT TITLES!

Well, Final Fantasy XIII isn't on there either and we don't think it'll flop either.

Of course GT5 will not flop but it's no longer a monster franchise in NA. GT Portable does not even have 30k pre-orders in NA if this website is correct so the GT franchise is not as big as before. I have no doubt GT5 will easily do 1.5 of so million in NA but nothing more TBH however as I said before I expect it to be a monster in EU, at least 4 million.

My 10 million LTD sales for this game have been dashed so quickly. However no doubt in my mind the game will sell enough for the franchise to continue which is all I care about. :D

Probably deliberately leaked, just like PS3 slim.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Seeing as I'll be picking it up first day, I'm curious as to how you'll get it "waaaaay" before me.

I thought my post was fairly self-explanatory, but I'll spell it out for you since you insist on being walked through it.

If it's announced at TGS, then that leaves 3 months for advertising. 3 months, y'know... that thing that constitutes an annual/fiscal QUARTER. How much more does any company really need to promote a game than a whole QUARTER of a year? It's an irrefutably sufficient timeframe.

I wasn't attacking you, either. You chose to post something historically shown to be incorrect, and you did so in an obnoxious manner. I merely rebutted you with concision.

@RPG

please for god's sake don't judge how GT5 may do from the pre-orders of a PSP game in NA

PSP SW is POOR in NA.....how do you expect people to even pre-order PSP games that much?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

But it's Gran Turismo, goodness a game like GOW and FF did well on the PSP in NA. If the franchise was still big in NA pre-order numbers for GT PSP would be 70k by now and that is shooting very low considering it releases in a few weeks.

It's just not a monster franchise in NA no longer but GT5 and mobile should still sell well, the former breaking 1.5 million or so.
