The last 2D Sonic game was on DS. There have been several popular 2D Sonic games on handheld systems.

Sonic Advance 1, 2, and 3 each sold around 1-2 million each.

Sonic Rush on DS sold almost 3 million.

As great of an idea as this is, Sega will throw in some unnecessary gimmick to make the game "better". Every other level will be a pinball level or something.

If it's download-only, i could equally see it being PS360 exclusive, if only due to WiiWare's low, low file ceiling, but i don't think it will be downloadable. SEGA's going to want to go for the throat with this

I agree that HD is probably just being used as a buzzword by the marketers here, that it doesn't necessarily imply HD exclusive.

Either way, the way they're choosing to promote it has put a bad taste in my mouth, as a loyal fan of 3D Sonic and as a Nintendo owner, but i'll wait to see something tangible before i pass any real judgment.

wouldn't be something like pinball, that might actually work considering how frequently sonic's had pinball like levels anyway.

probably they'll do something that makes the game really awesome like include a grinding rythm game that plays really poorly and is absurdly difficult

anyway I doubt they'll drop the grinding, butt rock,  and blind pits that have plague sonics games for the better part of the last decade

I'm always amazed that any 2D game is pointed as a download title...

If it's downloadable, I'm not interested.

There WILL be a Wii HD system, but I'm predicting more like 2011.
