Was SMS the developer of all the GoW games, and was Jaffe a part of them at one point, or did they just take over for him?

I completely agree with your suggestion. I always avoided Ratchet and Clank, then when I got my PS3 I decided to give Future a chance. Now it is is easily one of my favorite titles this gen.

Jak may end up being exactly the same outcome.

At the moment, I'll say SMS because I only just played god of war (and will play god of war 2 next week), and was absolutely amazed by the game. I think God of War > DMC4. That's how high I think of the game. I'm extremely pumped for God of War 3, and can only hope they do the same thing that they did with the ps2/god of war to the ps3/god of war 3 - i.e. set the benchmark for action games.

Now, Uncharted 2 is my most anticipated game this year, and I absolutely loved Uncharted (the only ND game I played). As was stated in the qore interview...they had a great foundation to begin uncharted 2 with, and accordingly the game looks to be shaping up to be one hell of a game - competitive multiplayer, co-op, longer single player game than the last one, 90+ mins of cutscenes (great given that the voice actors are amazing & the characters are likeable). I expect huge things from Uncharted 2 and can't wait to play it.

Although I said I think SMS is the better development studio I think comparisons are stupid as they are both outstanding and help each other out. It probably comes down to whether you prefer God of War or Uncharted more, and given that I just played God of War I went with SMS though that could change just as fast when I play Uncharted 2 :P
