Forums - Nintendo - What "hardcore" Wii game is coming that has no reason to flop?

You forgot "Has decent marketing," which no Wii game that didn't actually have the word "Wii" in the title has yet had. This seems to be the big thing with Nintendo consoles now; everyone seems to expect everything to sell pretty much by word of mouth alone. Is it really such a surprise that this doesn't work?

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

i call railshooters a casual core game.. because its a pick up and play kind of game you don't have to do much with railshooters only zap the enemy's

Dead Space Extraction has been getting a little hype, i reckon it can sell the same as the ones on the HD Consoles,

Dead Space was called a flop by EA itself. It sold only 1,5 Mio on PS3/Xbox360 combined (and most of this after a price drop).

I think Extraction will top the 1 Mio easily in lifetime sales.

I doubt Extraction will top 250k worldwide.

Why? No legitimate rail/light shooter on wii has sold that little, and Extraction looks to be one of the best games in the genre. House of the Dead: Overkill is selling the worst at 380k sold, but should easily break 500k before it stops selling considering it was selling 5k/week before it released in Japan just recently.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Alright, look...

The only core Wii game that has no reason to flop (and it wont) is Red Steel 2

And you know why?

Because it has something NEW.

NEW wii motion plus gameplay!

Do you really think regular people buy a wii to play Muramasa?

Hell no! When regular people buy a wii, they want motion controls. GOOD motion control

"yeah, but there´s a lot of other core games with motion control that had floped before"

Not with GOOD motion control, no. GOOD motion control only came with Wii motion plus, and really beats me to why no other publisher made any announces, yet, concerning new hardcore games with 1-on-1 motion control.

All hardcore Wii games have a reason to flop in terms of sales - lack of marketing.

If publishers don't advertise /market their hardcore Wii games as much as their casual titles or 360/PS3 titles...then they won't sell.

True... but except if you dont put a massive one like the one used for the Halo games, or at least KZ2, it still wont sell. HoTD:O and Maddworld had a decent advertisement campaign and neither are flying off shelves

Ot: CoD4 Reflex, MH3, RE: Darkside Chronicles will probably all sell in excess of one million...

It sold 1.1 million units in the first 10 weeks.....

Monster Hunter Tri

The PSP iterations have sold 180k-360k in America alone. Since the series has taken off since the PSP versions have came out, The Wii should be able to manage sales in that range with 7 million more users and without the PSP's chronic piracy problem. This is assuming that they make the North American version free to play online.
