Forums - Sony - $133.5 Million Advertising Campaign [Pics]

That's amazing for the Newspaper ads. It's kind of like putting those pics in the front cover of NY Times.

I don't think you can compair the Metro with the Times. In my country the Metro is a cheap free newspaper they hand out at stations, schools and other public places. It could be different in the UK but I doubt it's comparible with the Times. Having said that, it's free and therefor many people will read it (or atleast take one with them) so when this campaign is over everyone will know about the Slim. And since many students read it aswell it does market the initial targetgroup.

@papflesje

I guess your right on that one

@rickz0r

I know it was terrible

@kingofwale

no, that ad was awful, parents probably got in their minds right then that this PS3 thing was "weird" & not appropriate for their kids

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

sony definately raised their pace. just now they had 2 ps3 and 2 psp spots in one simpsons break on german tv pro sieben. :)

Pretty lame looking adds from what I can see these will probably be as effective as those lame "Do Do Do" adds that MS used to first promote the 360 when it first launched in Japan.

I love the new PS3 adds in US

Sony are really raising their game this year, I was in GAME yesterday in the UK and they now have this huge shelf with all the Playstation stuff. It has a HD TV with a PS3 hooked up playing trailers, a playable PSP, big posters for upcoming games (Uncharted 2, Eyepet, LittleBigPlanet PSP). I mean this thing is huge - they've removed 2 or 3 shelves to make space for it and reshifted the whole store layout.

I think they've got these thing in every major GAME in the UK, I saw something similiar in HMV too.

The adverts themselves are alot better now, instead of babies using the force for no reason they're actually trying to sell the PS3 for what it does well. They're doing a great job of playing off public perception that the PS3 was a 'everything' machine but too expensive now the price cut is in.

It's taken 2 years but I think Sony have finally dropped their arrogance and reailsed they can't sell this thing solely off the PlayStation brand. I just hope this isn't a short term flirting affair.

They are already broke...

@Jammy

just about sums up everything, SONY is finally turning around & climbing out of the 1000 ft grave they had dug themselves into marketing wise

@Wii_Master

that wouldn't be very precise

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

This isn't AS impressive as you might think. It's not the Daily Telegraph, or the Times, or even the Daily Mail or Evening Standard. It's the Metro. It's for people too cheap to buy a newspaper, and if they don't buy a newspaper for 50p, why would they buy a console for £250?

Hopefully the rest of the £82 million (a massive amount) has been put to better use. Billboards would be nice. And see if you can put a Slim ad next to the sign for GAME
