Forums - Nintendo - Why does the Zelda series exclusively focus on Ganondorf as an antagonist?

I think if your looking for a well developed story rather then a contrived one then the Zelda series is probably not the series for you. Not that I wouldn't think a epic well thought out story wouldn't be a welcome development, but Nintendo isn't really that innovative when it comes to the story. For them it is a very distant afterthought.

The truth is you want Ganon in the next game, because it gives you a glimmer of hope that the series can finally break the cycle. Once Ganon is dead it will free the series to have a ongoing story rather then a recurring one. In fact in a dream scenario the next game should start with a new Link finally killing him for good, and then the Triforce of power can be dispersed to a new cadre of villains. With more characters the story can see a very needed widening. That way you can have more good guys, and more bad guys. Hell might even let Nintendo sandbox out the world.

I think that they could make a game without him... but they got to put him in the end...

Like some other guy steal the triforce... use it... then link kick his ass then the triforce fall in the end of ganon again and he transform...

The other main reason why Ganon is the main vilain is that he has 2 form easily put in a game... Ganondorf and Ganon...

You know... videogames clichés.... the last boss always has more than a form !

If you think you're gaming too much, Game even more !

see I think ppl dont relize the Ganan is more than just villian...i mean thats like Batman with Joker...

we ned Ganondorf

but...it would be nice to see Vaati the windmage in this game

and then see him turn into the big one-eyed ball also

it would be insanely awesome to see him fight Link...in 3D

or to fight him..etc ...I' LOVE it

seriously...

as much as I would..the game would feel retardedly incomplete with Ganondorf being part o the story...seeing as he DOES hold the triforce of power

ganondorf as the final boss:

the legend of zelda
a link to the past
ocarina of time
wind waker
twilight princess

games with some other final boss:

zelda II
Links awakening
majoras mask
oracle of seasons
oracle of ages
minish cap
phantom hourglass

conlcusion: you haven't played enough zelda.

Console Zelda always have Ganon has the last boss if you forget majora's mask and Zelda 2.... the 2 "strange game" of the series.. (i loved them :D)

Anyone who doesn't want Zelda, Link, and Ganon need to go back, play some Zelda, and study the Triforce. If Nintendo ever tossed Bowser or Ganon because you people can't enjoy such great games, I will be really sad.

Do not get rid of Ganon completely.  It is just for one game like in "Majora's Mask".

I forgot about Links Awakening, but Oracle of Season and Ages has a code to reveal Ganon is the primary villain.

EDIT:

I also do not own a DS so I have not played Phantom Hourglass. :(

yes, but ganon "died" in TP, so the most logical thing would be to have some other guy as main boss in TPs sequel, after all the guy needs some time to reencarnate you know.

I wouldn't mind a new villain for Zelda Wii but there has already been several games without Ganon as an antagonist so I don't understand why people whine about the games he actually is in. Also, his Wind Waker characterization was the best.

I disagree, I found Gannon silly in Wind Waker. I liked him in OOT and TP the best.
