Forums - Sales Discussion - EA to Acquire Bioware Corp. and Pandemic Studios

Nintendo is apparently much bigger than EA.

I don't know a lot about economics, I'm only 14, but I'm still learning. Anyway, I think the total value of a company is the market value.

Electronic Arts Market value: 16 Billion - http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/18/biz_07forbes2000_The-Global-2000_MktVal_6.html

Microsoft Market Value: 275 Billion - http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/18/biz_07forbes2000_The-Global-2000_MktVal.html

Sony: 52 Billion - http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/18/biz_07forbes2000_The-Global-2000_MktVal_2.html

Nintendo: 34 Billion - http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/18/biz_07forbes2000_The-Global-2000_MktVal_3.html

"They are paying $860 million in consideration, as we reported earlier, and they expect the deal to close by early 2008.

EA expects to break even on the deal by 2009 and start raking it in by 2010."

Do you think that EA can break even on US$ 860 million in about 2 years ?

The only way EA will make that kind of loot is if they ...

1. Make a video game that prints money

2. Buy Nintendo and church out tons of DS Litez that print money

3. Release NFS Infinity and just release DLCs for the life of the console

IF EA did buy Nintendo, you know that they'd completely ruin it by releasing new hardware every year with new rosters pre loaded for their sports games. Oh and the games would not be included, you'd still have to buy them to play the game, it's just that the new DS would have the rosters on them. :)

LOL, celine ... I can't wait to see that happen!

MArket value is always in flux, so it's better to measure net turnover and profit in comparison to the company's relative size and resources spent.

Battlefield series is awesome

The Battlefield series was awesome before EA discovered that instead of improving the game through patches and updates, they could just release a new version every 6 months and milk gamers for every dime they have, killing the franchise in the long run as people grow tired of buying the latest/greatest, seeing their friends move to other games they might not own, and growing tired of dealing with unpatched exploits.

Oh yes. Since Battlefield 2 first edition, it's been steep downhill. Too bad, BF 2 is by far the best FPS I've played online...

Konnichiwa, this gen will end with only two companies in the gaming industry.. EA and Activision Blizzard...

... Hold me =(

I'm tempted to slap you for even saying it, but the scary thing is; you may very well be right...
