I'm in

Around the Network

Greetings friends, neighbors, heartless villains who will surely kill us all,

I would like to offer the mafia members the deal of a lifetime.  Turn yourselves in now and you will receive not one, but two quality kidney stabbings.  Each kidney-stabbing will be hand delivered by our trained specialists and come with a commemorative silver-plated dagger and lettuce peeler.  It's a bargain deal that you can't afford to pass up.  Supplies are limited; call now while kidney-stabbing supplies last.

Sincerely,

Mayor WoW of vgChartzville.

Now we just need that lazy bastard Onyxmeth to come in here and we can get started.

Impatience gets the better of me this round. I will message Onyx and he can come chime in at his leisure.

Day 1, go!

Ok, now that the game is a go, I'll start my reasoning.

Last time, one of the (many) reasons we lost is that we started bad and picked one townie in the beginning. In the end, at the start we have nothing to go by, so we attack blindly. But this time, at least, we have something to go by. We know for sure that between the first 8 there are two mafia (that is, a probability of 25% of picking a mafia when choosing anyone), and the 9th player, That Guy (hence known as TG) is either a townie (to make 2 mafia and 7 townies) or a mafia (to make 3 mafia and 6 townies), thus a probability of 50% of picking a mafia.

I think that picking TG is a safer alternative, because there's another thing, we know that he's not the policeman or the medic, since those jobs were assigned before. Thus, in the worst case, we'll lynch a vanilla townie, and in the best case, we'll get rid of one mafia for free.

So, as it stands now

Vote: That Guy

As it's once again Day 1, we have very little to go on until people start posting. Zexen's suggestion seems reasonable but I'll hold off bandwagoning until That Guy posts a response. Last time, the mafia were able to win by posting long expositions with reasoning; if anyone does so this time we need to look at these very carefully, and if you disagree with someone give reasons rather than accepting your fate.

The cop and doctor acted mostly in private last time; they need to be more active this time around (the cop by declaring as soon as he can, and the doctor by taking people's suggestions on who to protect).

Just to let you guys know I'm in. I'm not quite sure of who to vote for yet.

For anyone thinking to get back at me for revenge, remember I'm not necessarily Mafia this time. I'm going to agree with Soleron that an earlier unveling of the doctor and cop might assist us.

But if the cop reveals himself, and the doctor doesn't believe him, he'll get lynched on day 1, and the townsfolk won't be able to go on evidence. And the other way around, if a mafia declares to be the cop, and the doctor DOES believe him, we proteced a mafia and killed an innocent person.

If the group agrees to do this, that's fine, but I wanted to first point out the possible consequences. This also might be why Onyxmeth might want them to reveal themselves. The game's all about deception.

Yes, you're right. The other way didn't work, and my suggestion might not work either. It seems the cop and doctor are less powerful than I assumed from observing previous games (as I've not really played any before).

I didn't like Onyx's unprovoked defensive statement. Seems the most likely candidate to be an actual mafia so far.

But if the Cop/ Doctor reveal themselves quickly then that would make it easier for the Mafia to kill them off...
