As Jonas has pointed out, it was closer to 3 months and there were big releases during the time period and nothing for the Wii. PS3 had a couple price cuts before right? and lets see Ps3's at what? 3m? Wii's at what? 8m? And some folks are believing the PS3 is going to dominate due to a slim and a price cut? Sorry, that's dellusional.

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

It might, it's going to depend on when FFXIII releases.
I don't think the slim will have that big of an impact though, but FFXIII, that is another story....

I don't expect NSMBWii to have a much bigger impact on sales than WSR in Japan...

FFXIII alone should be able to move around 200k PS3, maybe more, we will see....



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

That was with no new software from Nintendo and a stellar lineup of games from PS3...

Nintendo now has Sports Resort + motion plus, and the release of another reliable mario game.  Granted PS3 will have at least FF XIII probably, but mario and another we gadget will be a monster.

Final Fantasy, Tekken 6, Tales of Vesperia will release in Japan this year. I think GT5's release date will be confirmed at TGS with a 75% chance of it hitting this year as well. I think the smaller form factor of the PS3 will be as much an incentive to the Japanese buyer as the price. I don't think the Slim/Pricecut puts the PS3 in a position to beat the Wii on a weekly basis, but it will outsell it during these software releases.

It will be interesting to see the impact of the Slim/price cut on the 360 in Japan. Afterall, this generation is really a race for second place. I don't think MS can counter the PS3 in Japan.

I personally see a lot of CROW eating once Tales of Vesperia and the slim releases in Japan
