Final Fantasy, Tekken 6, Tales of Vesperia will release in Japan this year. I think GT5's release date will be confirmed at TGS with a 75% chance of it hitting this year as well. I think the smaller form factor of the PS3 will be as much an incentive to the Japanese buyer as the price. I don't think the Slim/Pricecut puts the PS3 in a position to beat the Wii on a weekly basis, but it will outsell it during these software releases.
It will be interesting to see the impact of the Slim/price cut on the 360 in Japan. Afterall, this generation is really a race for second place. I don't think MS can counter the PS3 in Japan.
