I probably will wait until October if things go right if not i may not be able to until the beginning of 2010.

Right now the size of my monitor is 15" i belive. I could have had a 17" for the same price but they were out it made me mad.

I am planning on getting a new monitor somewhat bigger.

I guess my first answere answers this one. If not let me know.

I play like WRPG, Sim games. But i'm wanting to get more into PC gaming a little so i may move up and start getting games like GTA or others for the PC.

Thanks for the help. And i like the PC you showed me it would be perfect.

Hmm...

Are you interested in 3d technologies? (Nvidia has been doing a recent push for that)

As something of a solid spec for a 24" monitor and the latest technology for under $1500 from a bought PC you've got:

  • AMD Phenom II or Core i7 Quad core (2.6Ghz +)
  • 6/8GB Ram
  • 640GB+ HDD space
  • AMD HD 5870 (or so)
  • Windows 7
  • 24" LCD monitor with HDCP

Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

For a high end system the key is to be able to achieve 60fps for all your games at least initially (IMO).

Since you're going to be waiting, I would suggest looking at the monitor now as thats the one part not really subject to change.

I noticed this monitor on Newegg for example, its had excellent feedback there though you might want to check it up on more professional reviews. This is just an example btw.

Tease.

If you have shop put this together for you, you probably will have to buy the components from them rather than shop around for the best deals on individual parts (or buy from NewEgg which many system builders do).

Also, if you buy from a good shop with competitive component prices (should have everything listed in an up to date shop catalog), the guy who helps you out will probably be willing to teach you whatever you need to know. It's more or less how I learned how to build systems myself.

Most shouldn't charge more than $50-100 to put it together and make it post successfully. Some will do it for free if you buy everything from them. The OC on your CPU will probably be up to you though so start reading up on that if you want the most out of your CPU. If the shop's really cool, the tech may actually help you overclock your system as well.

Cool thanks for the advice. What place did you go to?

I like that Asus display. I have been looking into 16:9 ratio 24" displays. Even for a TN display, the price is right, and that's without any sale or rebates. I may pick one up down the line although I may be needing an IPS display instead depending on how things pan out this fall.

I think i may get a monitor soon. Then i won't have to add that to the price later. I really want to get a new PC but everything can change in that time so money may get low by then or maybe more lol.

But yeah the monitor you shown looks really good. I may get a big on then.

Also what about TV monitors working with computers. Like could you get a 42" TV that works with a computer and use them together?

It won't help you. I flew to Toronto to do some graphical work for a game developer and literally had to build the system I used from parts purchased locally. I think they went out of business in the wake of the Fall market crash.

If there's a decent sized university near you, it's likely you'll find some computer parts vendors in the area who also specialize in custom built PCs.

Its just the first one that showed up! But your advice about a system builder is pretty sound actually. Personally I would go that route if I wasn't building one myself.

If you have a 1920x1080 HDTV with HDMI or DVI ports, it will work fine as a monitor although your comfortable sitting distance may be at least 5" back (awkward for a TV). If it's a 720p set, you will be feeling pinched for desk top space (considerably less than a 22" 1680x1050)

On the plus side, the lower resolution will mean your games will run that much faster. It's just not very practical for general computing.

Of course that's if you already have the TV. Naturally a 24" display is going to be a lot cheaper than a 42" HDTV.

Yeah, i think i'm basically in a University City lol. I don't even know but we have a University here, but i don't really consider it that because usually there are a lot of places to hang out and stuff but there are only a few bars here. But they are popular lol.

There is this one place but i always hated their advertisments because they made everyone sound like they were idiots and knew nothing about computers. I may not know much as some but i do know enough, probably more than the avarage person. Because i know how to clean my computer. Programs i need to keep it in working order but for some reason my PC's always mess up on me. This is the first time i have had one for more than 2 years. I have taken better care of it. This time when it messed up is was my RAM i think that went out on me and started messing it up. Ever since then it just hasn't been the same lol my poor PC.

The funny thing is i have my TV and computer monitor on the same desk. I bought this big desk because i had too many. It's actually a cool desk. It has two levels on the top. One thiner strip on top big enough to hold my like 20 or something inch flatTV as well as my tower. And then below it there is the bigger desk top that holds my PS3 my monitor and my two external Harddrive that equal 1T and i'm thinking of buying another one. I have too much crap on my computer. I'm a pack rat even in my computer. i just can't delete stuff but i try to keep it off of my internal harddrive.
