Forums - General - Another example of why I hate the media

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/07/30/gates.police.apology/index.html

This is the second story on CNN's home page. In it, they basically get this man fired. Yea, he did a bad thing, and might be fired anyway, but when you make the cover of CNN, it's over.

Here is what bothers me. He said some racial slurs about black people. Bad, and if you want to write a story about it, please do. But Gates made some racial slurs about white people, and we have yet to hear from CNN (or any news source I have been to), what he actually said.

Why is this man in trouble, and about to lose his job, but a harvard professor can do the same thing, and no one is asking for him to lose his job?

The right outcome, is if this cop is going to lose his job over being racist (and I have no problem with that), then Gates should lose his too for being racist.

We have a black man as the president of the united states. It's time we all start living by the same rules.

Policemen are easily replaced, Harvard Professors aren't?

Also words such as nigger/negro have a history. It suggests that you think black people are slaves to white people and are less human than white people. If a black guy called me a snowman I wouldn't be offended.

Thats why racist slurs against black people are worse than the other way round; The Slave Trade.

Gates' true nature:

Gates: 'It Was Great' When Malcolm X Said, 'White Man Is the Devil'

"In 1959 we were watching Mike Wallace's documentary called "The Hate that Hate Produced." It was about the Nation of Islam and I couldn't believe -- I mean, Malcolm X was talking about the white man was the devil and standing up in white people's faces and telling them off. It was great. I mean, it's what black people did behind closed doors, but they would never do it in -- I mean, they were too vulnerable to do it, say, where they worked, at the paper mill or downtown, as we would call it. And here was a guy who had the nerve to do that, and I think if I had been a character in a cartoon, my eyes would have gone Doing! -- like this. I couldn't believe it. As I sat cowering in a corner of our living room, I glanced over at Mama and her face was radiant. I mean, this smile -- beatific smile started to transform her face. And she said quite quietly, "Amen." And then she said, "All right now," and she sat up and she said, "Yes."

He supports calling the white man a devil and liked Malcolm X. Talk about calling the kettle black. No pun intended but idc. No PC in my corner. This guy is a Ward Churchill and Ayers in 1.

Well, with the (lack of) rights that white Americans gave African Americans back then, most black people probably did think white men were the devil.

Well this whole thing just goes to show that Barack will stick up for his friends whether they deserve it or not just like Clinton and the whole FOB fiasco.  (Friends of Bill).

He didn't use those words. He said he acted like a banana-eating jungle monkey.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Quality policeman like Crowley are usually never forgotten whereas the crackpots in our Universities have tenure and cannot be replaced.  In any quality school folks like Churchill, Ayers, and Gates would be terminated and the former two sent to Gitmo ;)

You can't minimize racism if it's black on white, as opposed to white on black.
