Forums - Nintendo - Why do so few care about Little King's Story?

It has all the makings of a niche Wii game. Unknown Japanese dev makes a cutesy, artsy game that is very involved in terms of gameplay.

That coupled with "no TV ads" XSeed as publisher, and you don't have a winning sales formula at all.

As for me, i find it's the direct conflict with Wii Sports Resort, and the fact that when i'm not playing Resort, i am playing The Conduit.

meh its only because its not well known. I see hight scores but the game is a niche. But than again it also has tons of other competion. Think of all the other good wii games to come out in 09. Also I;m thinking about getting it though my wishlist is very full. Might not even get it until october from my view

You can add +1 for the sales, it's on the top of my list as soon as i have the cash to get some new games.

I think this is a game that admirably but unfortunately bears comparison to Nintendo's own first party games both in quality and appeal.

I think it's cute appearance belies the apparently long and challenging game that lies underneath and i think it's a design decision that, although makes some sense, has not paid off. If there was some advertising or if it had a different look it may have had the chance to attract some more core or self proclaimed hardcore gamers. It hasn't attracted the above demographic and for the remainder who don't spend vast amounts of time on gaming websites learning about the ins and outs of potential purchases it's likely to lose out to Nintendo's own games which dominate both gamer's minds and shelf space in the average store.

It's one of those games like Earthbound, Terranigma, and Chrono Trigger, that people will ignore until it is too late.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

it's a niche game, and its main market is japan. the high price also doesn't help.

I don't know. It could be this thing called Wii Sports Resort.

Why do even less people care about Excite Bots? That game has has a ton of unlockables as is extremely fun. I'm betting that a lot of people that are complaining that Little King's Story isn't getting enough attention haven't bought that one or even tried it. How about Blast Works? Why does no one care about that either? That's a highly difficult and entertaining sidescrolling shooter that there aren't any of on the Wii. Why does Active Outdoor Life Challenge outsell all of those games put together? Why do people adore Boom Blox? Why did the new Coke suck? Why do I see a new remake for a horror movie is being released every 20 seconds. Why ask why?

For the record I would be interested if this was a XBLA game. But a $50 Wii game... no thank you.

And this is probably soley based on the graphics rather than the content in the game. I don't know of many 20-40 hour (depending on how much searching you do) games that you can buy online except for full retail price (like burnout was $30 in store and online at one point)

No, more of price thing. There are a ton of games I'd rather spend $50 on. Also if a game is cheaper it tends to move more copies especially if its something that doesn't look appealing. Given that Little King's Story has crap sales, it doesn't have much appeal.

New coke didn't suck.  It beat old coke in blind taste tests.  It's just the "brand" of Cocacola made it fail since everyone wanted their inferior familiar coke.

Had they released it alongside coke from the start....

I heavily edited the post your responded too. Nevertheless, I wish I could give the developer a few dollars for the game because they sure as hell aren't getting $50 from me.
