Forums - Sales Discussion - Why do YOU care about sales?

because its interesting

I just like seeing how well (or poorly) my consoles of choice are performing. And this site is by the easiest way to look at sales.

I like business in general, like to see how strategies play out and how companies perform.

Because without sales the games industry wouldn't exist...

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

oh yeah... and that too.  I am constantly amazed at how poor some CEO's perform in all walks of business...

Yeah, and then you find out how much they get paid each year and it makes you wonder where you're going wrong

Because my life is empty. The sad thing is I'm serious.

well kind of and kind of not.

looking back at last gen, when i had GC XBOX and PS2, i didnt know how much they sold untill i joined vgchartz, so it made no difference to me back then.

as long as good games are released for you to play i guess thats what matters most.

but sales is a good discussion point though.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

i actually dont give a damn about it. when a game i like releases i go and buy it. Sales dont determine whether a game is good or bad. it shows ppl's taste in the game shown

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
