True.
On the European forums where I am a member no one wants to buy the PS3 anymore and I am talking about the Playstation forums.

IMO, it isn't worth all the negative publicity this is generating just to save a couple million bucks. They would have generated so much more good publicity if they had just made it a fully featured unit.
the 20GB model was $100 cheaper and it was much less gimped than this one. We all know what happened to that one. I expect epic fail with the 40GB.
the price drop on the 60GB model will be all the sales.
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!
Here's an interesting stat. On PS3forums, over 80% of the people have used the PS2 BC. That's a lot higher than I expected.

yea well when i buy my ps3 i sure as hell want BC because my danm ps2 of course is having epic disc read error problems at the moment, and ive cleaned it more times then i can count
With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

I have a really hard time imagining the consequences of Sony's actions.
From where i stand, it looks like this: The 40gb was not announced for the US, nor Japan (correct me if i'm wrong please), only for Europe. Thus this new sku introduction won't have any major influence on the first two regions. Unfortunately for Sony, there is a slight chance that sales will actually go down a bit as people will wait for the new SKU to reach their continents. In Europe...i don't know what'll happen. BC is important here. Period. Bundle packs might do the trick IF they'll seem reasonable and if more AA, AAA titles come out. HD is a long ways off so i doubt that people will start buying "cheap blue ray players a.k.a. PS3. 400 euros for a gaming device is a lot....ARRRGHHH I JUST DON'T KNOW ANYMORE!!!! (Puff..Puff, wheeze...ahhh my poor heart..)What say ye, fellow gaming addicts? What're your thoughts on sales with this one? |
Pufff.....lets say 3k a month.

the 20GB failed because of NO WI-FI!
No WIFI is MUCH worse than no BC
I wouldn't be playing online today if I had the 20GB

My prediction for YEARS END:
WII - 18.3 Million
Xbox 360 - 15 Million
Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million
Its only the hardcore gamers that care so much about BC, most gamers dont play their 5 year old games on their new console.

No BC is worse than no Wi-Fi...because it basically turns its back on the previous generation. But I think this thread is supposed to be about sales predictions...we already have a "The 40 gig sux/ You guys are Ninty/MSFanbois" thread elsewhere.
I expect a limited PS3 boost, but only because of uninformed customers or Blu-Ray lovers. My opinion about the Blu-Ray adopters, however, is that early adopters don't care how much they pay for new technology. So I'm not sure that lowering the price will net a significant boost for people who have been waiting on the fence.
