VIII all the way through, including beating the real last boss. 3 hours logged on either IV or V DS remake, I can't remember which.

Best just to drop this. I have almost nothing nice to say about that series, so let's not derail.

I thought it might be disappointing when I heard about the create your own characters feature. In these types of games, I like it when strong characters are already there and you uncover their stories like FFVI or FFX instead of making your own characters like Kotor or Mass Effect and maybe this new DQ.

Yes, IV-VI are wonderful games and even III is pretty solid if you pick up the GBC or SuFami remake(s). (VII and VIII, however, are pretty weak entries in the series.)

What does DQIX have to do with the quality of FFXIII? The DQIX department isn't made by the Final Fantasy team, AND Dragon Quest IX was made by LEVEL-5 NOT Square-Enix. Square probably did write the story though.

It's Dragon Quest. Reviews don't mean much because you already know what you're getting into. I doubt this is much more than obsessed fans nitpicking (since most of the negative "reviews" people have been squawking about here are just people bitching on amazon).

And Dragon Quest VIII was awesome. Chew on that you damn haters.

VIII was awesome, one of the best RPG I have played. Whatever thats just personal preferences. Fortunately, about 6-7 million people won't think like you and will buy DQIX.
