Forums - Sony - The Black and White Screen in 1st Party Sony Games

Have you guys noticed that all of Sony's first party games have this thing where when you start dying, the colour fades from your screen to the point where you can't see anything! Infamous has it, Uncharted has it, Killzone 2 has it and I bet a couple of other games too! It's so darn annoying, especially if you're playing KZ2 online and you can't see a thing because some guy shot two bullets into you...anyone else has a problem with this?

Its your life fading away.

Would you rather have a bigass bright light penetrate your screen?

No, its just a change from the COD way of doing it which is turn the screen half red

I guess they figure that if you're shot, you somehow loose the ability to see colour until 5 seconds later, when you miraculously recover. I wonder how many bullets were lodged in Nathan Drake's torso by the end of Uncharted...

I will say that stuff like this is in a lot of games, not just Sony first party games.

I never noticed... I don't die

i know that in some respects it's better than a bar of life...but when you're playing a game like kz2 online, it's kinda tough to see when your screen is red with blood and the colour has faded! they should have just dont the cod way where ur screen turns slightly red

its not only Sony, its common in games in general lately.

i myself rather have health packs rather than regenerated health

I think it is a good way of showing the idea of health and regeneration rather than having a health bar in the game!

I prefer it

I think it's much better. If you're going to have recharging health, you need to have some consequence for losing health. Of course, in inFamous, healing is as easy as draining a power box, or car, or lamp post, or human
