Yeah sure.... because it wasnt obvious what the outcome would be by insisting on those rules was it?  The PS3 has released a lot of big exclusives this year already... 360 hasnt.

its a biased, fixed and engineered set of stats. the end.

 

This list covers the last 18 months.  That's 6 consecutive quarters of software sales.

Lost Odessey is at 78 on metacritic.
Halo 3 will break 10 million soon, but it released in 2007.

PS3 exclusives(80+ metacritic in 2007): 8,440,000 Units

The main issue I have is that certain 360 titles sold most of their copies in 2008 or later (Halo, Mass effect, etc). Halo in fact still appears on the World wide top charts. Leaving these out makes the chart feel out of whack. Still the information is useful. Especially in comparing GoW2 to resistence 2 / killzone 2. Left 4 dead numbers are lower than the other main line shooters on the 360 (PC numbers?). Valkyria's attach rate also feels low for its Metacritic rating.

i agree.. even us sony fans are saying to at least put halo 3 in there. this list is good going forward i see that but halo 3 and gears of war  are good games with great sales.

we know the 360 wins in sales overall but its good to see that in 2008 on down the ps3 comes back with great sales and great games.

I have both consoles as many on this board do. The list does show a strong Sony software presence. Sony as has some big names coming (GoW3, Uncharted 2, etc). The list just feels incomplete without the big elephants in the room.

 

The more interesting information is how well rated the top sellers (other than GT prologue bundled?) are. There seems to be a correlation between quality and top end sales. Maybe we should send that information to game publishers.

I cant belive how wound up some people are over this...

Hes explained why its only from 2008, its his thread... let him structure it however he wants.

Well the thread title and original opening post disagree....

The point of this thread seemed to change when the deficiencies where pointed out....

The thread title is "HD Exclusive Sales Comparison", what did you find when you opened the thread????

I clearly explained the data I was working with and explicitly mentioned several times that it began in 2008 and why I made that decision.  I wanted to look at the big exclusive releases for PS3 and 360 since 2008 that were favorably reviewed.
