Rockstar can't be no more out of thin air, leo-j. They are owned by Take Two, and Take Two NEEDS GTAIV. It is their most profitable venture.

It's listed for both 360 and PS3 for October 2007, but 2008 on the rockstar website.

IMO, GTAIV is going to get a lot of advertisements, simply due to the massive sales potential of this title. It has sold ridiculously well on the PS2 platform, and is the best selling PSP game. If it was coming out in a few weeks, the media blitz would have begun, or should be beginning like, tomorrow. Take Two is banking a lot of money on this game. 

Well I know all the articles I read about the delay said it was because of the PS3 version. So if any version was to come out earlier it would be the 360 version.

Any articles you have read were probably in relation to analysts' speculation that the PS3 version was responsible for the delay. To my knowledge, Rockstar (or Take 2) have not come out saying that either version is "responsible" for the delay.

 R* have made 2 statements with regards to the dev time.

1. At the start of August they said the PS3 version was 2 weeks behind schedule.

2 After the delay as announced  they said the 360 version was only 80% complete with no mention of the PS3 version.

I thought that b/c of the core's lack of a hard drive was the problem.

I think a lot of people here might be dreaming... The 360 is the system that previous game trailers for GTAIV were taking from and it's also the system that they used to demo the game to the media, so it would be very strange for them to have done that if the PS3 version is ahead in development. 

No way Microsoft would allow this to happen. They would crush those who broke the contract and those who influenced the company to break the contract.

This just in, GTA IV is coming out this month on the Xbox 360 in Australia.

I read a rumor in Game Informer that the 360 version was holding them up because of the lack of a internal hard drive in all 360 SKUs.....

MS has a lot of evil that it has done in the past with regards to Windows and how they buy up companies to make it look like they are innovative. Nasty stuff there. MS has proved that it will fight nasty in the console wars too. But Sony is no stranger to the fight as they have had some shady deals in the past too.

I don't think this GTA4 stuff is true, but don't think that Sony doesn't know how to play dirty too. MS deserves it. MS thinks they are top shit now. But the Sony folk have made the business what it is today. Sony platforms have created what the video game business is now. They will call in the favors when necessary. The PS1 outsold the xbox and 360 combined times 3? 4? 5??13???

Did the billions over the years just dry up?
