Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom says 'never say never' with Street Fighter IV on Wii

This would be great if they do it right. I don't want a cheap tacked together version that's just meant to make a few more bucks.

If they did that, it wouldn't even be playable. Remaking games for less powerful systems is not easy. You have to remake all code and assets from scratch. Just because a lot of gamers think that's easy and you can just slap them together doesn't make it so.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

The irony of course is back in the day all arcade ports had to be redone for the consoles. Street Fighter II on the SNES was downgraded from the arcade version but still played quite well.

I know! All the sprites had to be recoded for all the systems. And many games got major downgraded put on other systems. Imagine if Contra came out for the NES with gamers like this. They'd tear it apart for losing the original game's 16-bit look (it was an arcade game originally). Who cares if it played just as well. Konami obviously just rushed it.

There's nothing that SF4 is doing that prevents a decent port on the Wii if they want to do it. Not having to run at HD resolution scales back the amount of horsepower they need.

Some of my most fun moments with a console were with Contra on the NES and Street Fighter II on the SNES. If they are going to port it, I would like to see some Wii exclusive characters.

I'm guessing that the Street Fighter IV Wii port if it ever happens will be probably end up like Real Bout Garou Densetsu: Dominated Mind on the PSX in which quite a bit of new stuff is added, but at the cost of a couple things & will still surprisngly be a good port.

RBS:DM was originally released as RBS btw.

Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special was originally released on the Neo Geo MVS, AES, & the Neo Geo CD in early 1997. It was later ported to the Saturn in the same year in December to be more specific. On June 1998, RBS was ported to the PSX under the name: "Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special: Dominated Mind." Earlier that year, RBS was released on Gameboy but it was jpn-only.

Now normally, a lot of 2d fighting games that were ported to PSX from the Arcade wern't very good like X-Men vs. Street Fighter & Samurai Shodown III for example due to the PSX's low RAM which resulted in many missing frames of animation & even had some stuff removed like the tag team feature of the PSX version of Xmen vs. Street Fighter. Luckily, RBS: Dominated Mind was a great port, the line-sway system might've been removed, but a lot of new stuff was put in the game to make up for it.

I already have the game for the PS3 along with a pair of sanwa sticks for the console. I don't see myself buying this for the Wii even if they added like 4000 characters to it.

Unless one of those 4000 is Dudley.

If it came to the Wii, I certainly wouldn't mind dropping the dough if the core elements remained intact, such as especially the gameplay.
