Forums - Gaming - Rejected Imagine: Games

It's the franchise everyone loves to hate, even among Nintendo fanboys. But for every one of these games that gets made, how many must have been rejected? Let's see what we can come up with. Some of these are tasteless, but this is part of the point, given that the premise behind Imagine seems to be that all jobs are easy and consequence-free.

  • Imagine: Failed Presidental Candidacy
  • Imagine: Cow Tipper
  • Imagine: Televangelist
  • Imagine: Sweatshop Employee
  • Imagine: Mortician
  • Imagine: Slum Lord
  • Imagine: Used Car Salesman
  • Imagine: Exotic Dancer
  • Imagine: Hikikomori
  • Imagine: Crime Scene Cleaner
  • Imagine: Car Towing Service
  • Imagine: /b/-tard
  • Imagine: High School Dropout
  • Imagine: Burger Flipper (packaged as a 2-in-1 deal with Imagine: Starbucks Barista)
  • Imagine: Enron Executive
  • Imagine: Sony Executive (the best-selling franchise on the Nintendo DS, now on your PSP!)
  • Imagine: Video Gamer
  • Imagine: Prison Warden
  • Imagine: Evil Dictator (including an unlockable remake of Imagine: Concentration Camp Guard)
  • Imagine: Single Mom
  • Imagine: Coal Miner
  • Imagine: Death Row Candidate
  • Imagine: Freedom Fighter
  • Imagine: Obscure Novelist (the sequel to Imagine: Fanfiction Writer)
  • Imagine: Mafia Boss
  • Imagine: Abortion Clinic
  • Imagine: Nuclear Annihilation (push The Button your very own self!)

Any others?

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

And we already have a winner to the thread.

Imagine:
Zack and Wiki Make a Porno (inspired by the other Zack makes a porno movie).  Sorry I thought we were imagining games that would be rejected, rather than games as part of the Imagine line that were rejected.

As for the others:
* Imagine: Sweatshop Employee (Konami's 50 Wacky Jobs)
* Imagine: Mortician (I can see this being a DS game)
* Imagine: Slum Lord (Yet another DS game)
* Imagine: Used Car Salesman (Yet another DS game)
* Imagine: Exotic Dancer (Has to be a PC game somewhere)
* Imagine: Crime Scene Cleaner (coming soon to a DS near you)
* Imagine: Car Towing Service (Part of the Imagine series of game)
* Imagine: Burger Flipper (I believe that is part of 50 Wacky Jobs for the Wii)
* Imagine: Sony Executive (Sega GAGA you played a Sega executive)
* Imagine: Video Gamer (Retro Game Challenge on the DS)
* Imagine: Prison Warden (There is a PC game where you run a prision).
* Imagine: Evil Dictator (The PC game Tropico involved this. Even one where you ran a pirate island)
* Imagine: Single Mom (Coming to a DS near you, as part of the Tween line of games)
* Imagine: Coal Miner (Miner: Dig Deep is one of the most addictive games on the XBox Live Community games. Don't mine coal, but do mine everything else. Same idea though, minus the bad lung. At 200 credits, it is a definite game to get).
* Imagine: Freedom Fighter (EA released a game called Freedom Fighters: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=5130&region=All . Also note that other games out there have the basic idea to be a freedom fighter. The latest Red Faction is based on this).
* Imagine: Mafia Boss (Godfather II for the 360 and PS3 is this game)
* Imagine: Nuclear Annihilation (There is a boardgame called "Nuclear War" that became a PC game. The idea was to hit nuclear annihilation. Game is most fun when no one wins)

As for Getting Laid, that is the goal of the Leasure Suit Larry games.

Ok, what I wrote is a mix of absurd comments, and actual reality. While they likely will get new names, these ideas have appeared, or I can imagine them appearing.

Imagine: Bath (for the nerds that need one)
Imagine: DUI
Imagine: Prison Bitch
Imagine: Toilet (you simulate the toilet flushing the feces and cleaning any after stains)
Imagine: Real Babiez (this one you have photo realistic babies, real poo/piss graphics, the game never stops crying even if you take the game cart out and turn off the power, and you have that 1/10 chance your baby comes out with some kind of illness)
