Forums - Nintendo - Is Metroid: The Other M Considered First-Party or Third-Party?

With the Prime games, it didn't really matter, as Retro was owned by Nintendo, so it was 'fircond party'.

Since this one's jointly developed by Nintendo and a completely separate third party developer, what do you call it?  'Thirst party'?  Hopefully not, because then everyone would need a drink.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

It will still be published by Nintendo so it's a first party game.

Besides it's clearly Nintendo IP.

1st party. I hope Team Ninja/Project M becomes a full time Nintendo studio in the future.

I agree with BengaBenga, but mainly because the responsibility for the development lies with a Nintendo director. Team Ninja is really "hired help" because the Metroid team at Nintendo didn't have 3D experience. (they did the 2D Metroids).

I agree it's definitely a 'Nintendo game', but by your logic Bioshock is a first-party Microsoft game (the 360 version) since they published it.

The game itself is a first party game. It's just being developed in partnership with a third party.

It's like how F-Zero GX is a first party game but Amusement Vision and Nintendo both worked on it.

Pixel Art can be fun.

its definetly first party , capcom developed LOZ the minish cap and oracle of ages/seasons and they are considered firsty party , are they not ?/

Its still first party like with Sora and all the other dev who had involvement in SSBB (including Konami).

Also with sega who made Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Nintendo own the IP......Nintendo is developing along side Team Ninja.......Nintendo is publishing....

I think its clearly first party.

The game, along with every Metroid Prime game, is second party, because it's not being made (entirely) by Nintendo but it is owned by Nintendo.

Definitely not third party.
