Forums - Nintendo - Team Ninja? Really?!?!?

I welcome the change. This game looks awesome. Just because they are going in a different direction does nto cheapen the prime trilogy in any way.

Metroid is an Artisan franchise. Its creator Gunpei Yokoi is dead so its not out of place to see it passed from unique developer to developer.

I don't criticise people's reservations though I am perplexed by the sheer number of them over this game.

Well, you shouldn't worry too much about Team Ninja's past games' designs influencing this one anyway. Itagaki took a rather large portion of the Team Ninja team with him when he left, including a lot of the top dogs there.

I welcome the change too. And they are going in a different direction BUT a direction that looks to be closer to the series roots. Even though Prime trilogy was very good games I can´t see any true Metroidfan of the classics for NES and SNES to be dissapointed with what we saw of Other M.

Prime saga is NOT the standard for what Metroid should be, not in any way. In fact some consider the trilogy to be a spinoff from the main series because of how different it is in set up and the way you play it from the 2d games. Don´t get me wrong I think Prime is very good and contain some clear Metroid elements but still it´s not really Metroid for me. Super Metroid is my standard for Metroid and Other M looks like a new innovation in the series but VERY much Metroid. Now we just have to wait and see how it plays.

Super Metroid was boring really :)
Atleast if you play it after metroid prime. It's just nostalgia...

I wouldn't mind a 2d metroid though, as long as it's not on the wii.

Blasphemy!!

Super Metroid is a true masterpiece that has stood the test of time. It never gets old, I´ve played it on VC after the Prime games and while I have no desire to play through the Prime trilogy again I never get tired of Super Metroid ;)

Here you come again, trying to play your filthy tricks.

If it was just nostalgia, people wouldn't still love it to death after replaying it. No, Super Metroid is a game that has truly stood the test of time. Once again, I'm going to have to ask you to relinquish your username, please.

i think team ninja from the trailer shown off at e3, looks to be doing a awesome job, i approve . :)

Despite the fact that Metroid Prime was the best game of all time (the only one ahead of Sonic Adventure 2), i welcome the coming change. Fusion was different. Inferior (but all games are inferior to Metroid Prime), but different, and to see that team build something that is a little more actiony, yet captures that same feeling of a more developed Samus Aran, is welcome

Aside from the fact that, the way Nintendo works with 3rd parties, isn't like other companies. Its not like they just tell Team Ninja "hey, you guys can make a Metroid game, have at it," it's a close collaboration, down to the point where the team is part Nintendo SPD, and part Team Ninja

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I dont know rocket...Team ninja had the flashy boobs and excessive gore...but they always had substance in their games. Ninja Gadien and Dead or alive are great playing games. So I don't think its fair to judge them just for putting jiggly boobes in the game...

Plus with Itagaki gone, you can be sure that Metroid M will be clean family entertainment...
