hell yeah, that was pretty damn hardcore too...

looks like they are going for violent just for teh sake of being that way to attract those type of people

i hate games that add in extra violence just b/c they want to create buss and controversy

hat usually means they are lacking in other areas and have to compensate (story and such)

Umm...mesoteto. GOW is definitely not lacking in any other areas. Story is awesome, gameplay is top notch. They have the violence cos it fits perfectly with Kratos's image and intent. He plans on taking down all of Olympus...and that is what he will do.

no firstly he will de-skin zeus' arms and legs, pour sulfaric acid down each of his nerves, nail 100 thick needles in his eyes, dislocate his jaw repeatedly, slowly twist his arms and legs (saw 3), chinese burn him, and then after all that...........get a hammer and break each of his fingers to a repeated pulp, dislocate every joint in his body, tear his teeth out one by one, paper cut in between his fingers toes and mouth, and then force him to watch gigli until zeus kills himself

AND then he will rip his head off

you have problems

He is the ... GOD OF WAR!

What else is he gonna do? Get out the feather duster and tickle him to death?

And if you think the game is lacking in story, you obviously havent played the other games in the series.

LMAO good point Carl.

mesoteto, I don't think they really have to add gore and violence to attract anyone, a lot of the people who play GOW3 will already have played the other 2 anyway.

I don't think it's as bad an Manhunt...

Do we have so few God of War fans here? =( Most of the people here seem to be complaining and don't know what the game and character are like, and how appropriate this all is.

^I'm a fan. Arguing the game's awesomeness and trying to explain the story is too tiring however

I'm a fan. I played the original on God and the sequel on Titan. I borrowed a friend's PSP solely to play Chains of Olympus, which I thought was a lot of fun.

I've enjoyed the series for its heavily stylized and over-the-top violence for a long time. It's like all the desires of an adolescent male id made real.

But that was still a bit much and I worry that it may be indicative of a larger trend. I mean, Hell, did you see how much the skeleton enemies bled? That's getting kind of ridiculous. And ripping off Helios' head abandoned the kind-of-goofy stylized violence that's been the series trademark and made it something approaching realistic, which made me cringe.
