Forums - Sony - Do you think this E3 has killed Sony is Dead Threads?

@Derek

Wow.....thanks for breaking that juicy piece of info for me....I never realized

Technically according to your revolutionary logic SONY should sell less PS3's so they make less losses....right

Right time for me to sleep, before I puke.

No, not as long as Xbox 360 fanboys troll the forums.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

@panasonic, I firmly believe that GT5 and FFXIII will be out in Japan exclusively on PS3 by the end of 2009. Spurring the PS3 over the 4 million mark. I also believe that after the release of FF Versus XIII probably in June or August of 2010, we will see that the PS3 has sold 5 million or more units in Japan.

Japanese gamers are going to keep this system alive.

PS3 was never even close to dead. It's lost tons of money but its selling just about as well as 360 with twice the entry price. If that's not good sales I don't know what are.

The PS3 hasn't even hit the PS2's launch price yet and it's keeping up with the 360 on a weekly basis.

I did find it funny that Sony's whole press conference was talking about how 2009 will be the biggest year ever for PS3 when all their titles are coming out in 2010.

The first 6 months of 2010 will be big for the PS3, but it makes no sense to release all these titles at the same time so far out from xmas, it's the slowest sales period of the year.

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

Of course not! They will find (read: make up) new reasons for sony's inevitable demise.

Time for hype

The PS3 has already hit a good amount of consoles sold. It's not going to die. It may not ever move up from third place, but it's already hit about 22 million consoles, and developers aren't going to ignore that. The PS3 is not like the Wii where everyone and their mother has one but it's being used as a coaster and not for playing games. People with PS3s, like people with 360s, actually want to play games and will actually buy them if they're any good. The developers all know that. The big question is exactly how developers will continue to approach the PS3 if it continues to sell less software title for title vs. the 360.

no there will always be a disagreement doesn't matter who's right or wrong

Reasonable doubt about the potential long term success of Sony as a company were based on doubts about the viability of the business model that made Sony so successful, and the underlying trouble that is evident in Sony's financial statements ... When we're talking about Sony as a Console manufacturer there are legitimate concerns about the PS3 and PSP because they are (currently) unable to maintain their sales rate due to Sony's inability to justify their price tag with high quality exclusive content and E3 really hasn't changed that.

While it is insane to assume there won't be a PS3 on the market in 2010, I think it is entirely reasonable to suggest that the PS3 may be struggling in 2011 if something doesn't change for the PS3 (and fast).

2010 is the year of the PS3. Skip 09 for now.
