The question you have to ask yourself crazzy is how in the world is the PS3 not mopping the floor with the 360. It's the succesor to the most succesful console of all time, came out just as RROD was becoming a massive problem, is the only next-gen console to have bluray and has some of the biggest exclusive franchises behind it like MGS4 and GT5. Yet despite all this the gap between the PS3 and the 360 has increased an extra 3 million since launch. That if nothing else should show you how insignificant a price cut will be in the grand scheme of things.

/Thread

Nope.  The answer to the hypothitical IS largely price difference.  Which shows how significant a price cut COULD be.  In fact, 360 is so cheap in some regions (Japan, EU) that additional price cuts may not help it generate too many more sales if PS3 drops in price and MS tries to stay ahead with yet another price cut.  It's actually amazing that PS3 is pacing as well as it is in those regions, given price.

Whether Sony can or will drop the price by much this year, especially in the US, is unclear.  The dollar/yen situation is bad for them right now, and may be set to get worse.  Sony will probably rely on GT5 and other releases to drive sales, since they may not be able to shave $100 off the console price anytime soon.  A $50 price cut and slim model may be more likely.

@twesterm: PS3 started at $600, what's your point?  At the time when there's an 8 million console difference, the prices are $400 vs. $100.  That's fair, though we can add more detail.  What does the detail add, though?

I love your enthusiasm guys, trying to win the Crazzyman over with logic.

I don't think you get that I'm in no way trying to make valid points.

The fact that you are comparing the ps3 to the gamecube at all, just shows how far the bar has been lowered for sony this generation. Rock bottom indeed.

Desperation is at an all time high amongst the sony defense force

So sad

Wait, first PS3 won't outsell Dreamcast. Then it won't outsell Gamecube/X-Box. Now we see that PS3 is outselling 360 and people want to rant about Sony losses as if Microsoft doesn't still have 9 billion more to go before they make a single dime off the console business. Oh but that's ok they can-lol- afford it. Just lay off another 17% of their workforce why not?

Lol at the nuts who say a pricecut doesn't matter when it was only last year that the 360 was on life support and being outsold by PS3 -yes even in America- every single month. Then what happened? MS cut the price of the 360 so low it's now closer in price to a PSP then a PS3.

There will be no Gears of War to save 360 this year. And with a lineup that pretty much entirely relies on DLC and expansions like Gay Tony and OSDT, frankly 360 fanboys better hope for a megamegaton at E3 this year, along the lines of they bought Nintendo.

So, what's your saying Crazzy is that price doesn't matter at all?

I agree wholeheartedly.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

So...you're trying to prove that the PS3 did better than the worst console last gen? Do you also brag when you can beat a 4th grader at any given sport?

so whats 360 a 5th grader?

they both in third place and always compared. and also the same time frame 360 it's behind the ps3 with a cheaper price.
