PS3 is also ahead of x360 by 3,5 mln., which cost $279 for X360 Arcade and $349 for 20GB Premium on it`s 3rd year by that time.

That`s pretty good result for PS3 at it`s entry price(399$). Now, the only thing Sony need, is to cut price to 299$(mass market price this gen) and be able to make profit from Gaming division. =)

they are losing money with the current price. what good can a 100 price cut do?

The problem with launch aligned charts is that they do not take into account the explosive growth that the games industry has gone through over the last 5 years. 2007 was double the size of 2006 alone, so consoles that launch later are always going to look good compared to their predecesors.

@shokenchi, 100$ price cut will lead to better software sales and movie sales = more money from soft. =)
Also, don`t forget, that this summer Sony will have 45nm RSX and Cell.

@aderoche, not in case of PS2, which by that time had even higher sales, but that also thnx to 199$ price point. =)

@twesterm, MOST EXPENSIVE console this gen is doing MUCH better, then MOST CHEAPEST console last gen. =)

Can you crunch another set of numbers? What are all 3 (PS3 Xbox GC) consoles profit/loss amounts after 2.5 years launch aligned? That's the important numbers.....
