naznatips I dont know wtf your talking about, you dont even own a slim psp, how da F do you know. Im getting sick and tired of all these N fanboys bashing the psp over and over again. How can you even say the old ds feels better?

First of all:  You don't have to own a new PSP to walk into a walmart and play it.  You also don't have to own one to look up the technical specs or know what's available in it.

Second: when did I say the old DS was better?  I just said it wasn't worth it upgrading to a DS Lite.  Just like it's not worth it upgrading to a PSP slim.  How is me saying "it's good for new PSP buyers but not worth it for current owners" bashing it?  My opinion is that it's a crap upgrade.  I don't have money to throw around for a new PSP when it doesn't even fix the problems I have with my current one.

I forgot to mention everything on the psp runs double the speed thanks too the 64mb ram.

LOL :)

You really have no idea what you are talking about, do you? ;)

Pity they didn't drop 1Gb of RAM into the machine - imagine it running 32 TIMES FASTER!! That would be like, a PS3 or something!

You got that right ;)

That's horribly incorrect. The exta ram only speeds up new games, and even the not even all new games are faster. Some of the old games in fact had their load times increased by the slim in a load time test.

As a current PSP owner, I think the slim is a complete joke of an upgrade at least from the perspective of those who already own one. Here's why:

The analog stick is still awkwardly positioned, and still cramps my thumb. It's lighter, but not signifficantly thinner and still uncomfortable to hold. The battery life isn't improved unless you want to buy an original PSP battery and a special cover for it, which of course makes it heavy again and makes a big awkward bulge in the back. Load times weren't fixed for old games, though it's really impossible to fix them for old games so I shouldn't criticize them for that. You can output to the TV but you can't get it to go fullscreen (even on a widescreen TV), and of course the cable is sold separately.

That said, I didn't think a DS Lite was worth upgrading either. So I still use my Original DS. So, maybe I'm a harsher critic than most, but from my perspective, it's a stupid worthless change that's okay for new buyers but pointless for old owners to upgrade to.

most HDTVs have a zoom feature, so that might help you out. It would probably make the games look like crap tho

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

@shams

I thought when you double the ram on a pc the speed doubles, doesnt the same thing go for the psp?

mM

Not exactly extra ram tends to help when it allows you to store files that need quick access there instead of on the hard drive. Modern computers will use hard drive space to act as ram if they do not have sufficient ram to run all the programs currently running installing more ram allows you to store it all in ram and it can be accessed more quickly. The ram in the psp works a little differently though there is obviously no hard drive but what is there is the UMD drive. The extra ram will allow developers to read files ahead of time off the UMD into ram where they can be more quickly accessed and as such quicker load times by helping reduce the bottleneck of reading the UMD by doing it as you play instead of hitting spots where it needs to load for a longtime. Like Naz said though old games won't be taking advantage of this because they were not programmed for it and not all new games will be programmed to look for it either though you have to keep in mind now that game makers for the psp have to write a game to work on both the old and the new psp. Some will take advantage of it others won't its certainly a nice feature but its not nearly that good as to even speed up the old games. And if you don't believe me and think I'm a Nin fanboy take it from Sony's mouth themselves on this subject.  And imagine the movies at 32x the speed!!! Fast foward would be obsolete!

On topic, I'm too cheap to upgrade anything unless my last one got broke.
