Outta curiosity, do you just find these or do you make them?

@ Hanzo. You make some valid points but:
1. You can't talk about the snout in relation to dog vs. cat because it's a beak, and neither dogs nor cats have beaks.
2. You can't talk about the fur in relation to dog(fox) vs. cat because it ain't fur, it's feathers (well it looks like feathers to me), and dogs, foxes and cats are pretty much featherless these days.

As far as any rat inferrences go the ears seal it for me. Those are not rat (rounded) ears. Edit: And what makes a cat-bird the more likely option is the fact that this creature is gonna have to do a bit of climbing, and agility work, I reckon, and cat's have it all over dogs in that department.

We'll have to wait for a cut scene shownng the creature landing after a fall: Lands on it's feet = cat, lands otherwise = dog.

Making animated GIFs out of video footage isn't difficult at all. Maybe a bit time consuming, but rather simple, given the right tools

@dolla:  I need to find these tools.  I'm always cropping my own avatars and such, and they'd probably be right up my alley.

Pay attention to a few features.......

• Ears: Rat or Cat like(I personally think they are more Rat, further enformed by...
• tail: that is DEFINITELY not a cat's tail. THat is a rodent like tale
• fur/feathers: they are some kind of wierd hybrid from what i have seen. Think Kuja's hair from FFIX, thin feathery texture.
• wings.
• beak: blend of a snout and a curved beak.
• feet: not cat feet either. RAT

It is not a rat. It would be just plain dumb if it was. Mythology has tones of cat-birds and dog-birds and absolutly no rat-birds that I can find. And, they will go with mythology to keep with the fantasy feel like the other 2 games. If it is a cat like crature it would then be the Griffin, which is the most likely. Griffins have long tails and beaks, too and are very well known. I do seem to see some scales, too in with the feathers and fur which could mean it is a Simargl, which is a dog-bird with claws for feet.

Rat = plain dumb. No personality, not mythical and people hate rats.

Cat/dog = smart choice. Cats are good at climbing and dogs are even better companions and both are mythical

U prove yourself wrong with those images. The ears in your Trico creature are nothing like your rats, nor is the structure of the head!

I agree with Makingmusic; it would have been an intentional leak from SONY to bolsten the hype. I only wished SONY would always do things like this with announcements.

Like I said earlier, since Yoshida Shuhei got premoted to manager the announcements have been much, much better handeled. SONY is finally learnig from both Nintendo and M$. M$ does a good job at game announcments within 6 months of release and Nintendo has awesome 1st parties that SONY has emulated, but even better IMH. it sometimes pays to go through pain to learn.

Actually a Rat bird isn't that wierd, they actually EXIST lol. Except real rat birds go by the names of BATS(or to the lesser extent, flying squirrels ^^)

Rats ears are tall oval like. Look how they fold over hot dog style in my pic and images of the.....it(?) They form a slight point when looked at from the side. Bats ears are sharp though, but that would still mean rodent.

The TAIL, LOOK AT THE TAIL. RAAAAAAAT!
and that goes for the feet too.
