All they need to do is carry on what they are doing. Simple really.

Nintendo are in the perfect position to keep momentum. They have everything going for then. A price drop in which they could easily afford, some bundles, a black wii and some wonderful games.

For all those people who keep saying that Nintendo have no games out next year, well ITS BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T SHOWN THEM YET. with the exception of a few here and there. Where as Sony have nothing this year so they have to show whats coming out next year. If nintendo was in that position they'd be showing mario kart wii off like crazy about now. but they dont have to

Imagine for one second a black wii bundled with wii sports and mario kart.

n.
1. One that makes or supplies costumes, as for plays or masquerades.
2. A clothes tree.
I dont see how suprising them helps Nintendo that much. Unless Nintendo needs some crazy costumes.

Silly person... :P

I think Nintendo is on a good road but they should try to encourage (I rather use that word than bribe) 3rd parties to make better games. They seem to be a bit lazy on that... =_=

Third party support is very important and it's because of the lack of it that the N64 and GC failed. Wii has support but, most of the time, it's not that much of a good one...

I wonder if many third party companies are still leary of the Wii, perhaps thinking console sales won't equel third party game sales.

You can't seriously say that by the time Nov rolls around(1 year since launch) that the Wii won't have an impressive first year batch of games. I could start naming games here, but everyone already knows them. You could have just saved yourself some time and said you think the Wii is a novelty and put on your "I'm a hardcore gamer" biker vest. You said yourself that Nintendo is keeping it's cards close to it's chest with future projects, and you know that third party companies don't necessarily announce a game as soon as they start on them. So what gives? 99% of these unannounced games by Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, Namco, and countless others are going to fall into the area of mediocrity?

You'd think after seeing a few consoles launch people might get the idea that you're not going to have 5 great rpg's, fighters, sprawling epics, and ground-breaking action games in the first year or so. Same goes for the PS3, and the same happened with the 360 and every console I can think of. I'd like more games like MGS4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 on the Wii, but they don't detract from games like RE:UC, Z&W, or Nights in the least. Between those 5 games I don't know which one I'll enjoy most, but my opinion on them won't be influenced on whether or not they are accepted by the "hardcore" elitists.

"Funding" select games is probably something Nintendo is already doing. But it's not something that will be worth their money in the longrun(at least on a large scale like MS has done). Buying the RE franchise didn't help them last gen, and even MS's deep pockets has gotten them no better than 2nd place. Nintendo is taking the best approach possible: building the largest userbase. It worked pretty well for the previous 2 Playstations, the SNES, and NES after all.

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."

I just read on IGN that in the states alone nin makes about 50 bucks on each wii sold...you want to see a huge sales spike once it been established that the crazyness has worn off---Bundle a huge first party game witha slick new wii(like a mario cart themed one) and knock around 25 bucks off---blame instant gold

i dont think it would do any good yet in my area--wiis still only have a self life of a day at most around here

The market that is being missed is the educational one.

Not in Japan, fkusumot. They're getting LOTS of edu-games. The States would really do well to get some of those.

The PS2 thrived on a balanced mix of core and casual. The Wii, so far, has a strong casual library with a few sprinkles of core. So long as it doesn't go TOO too far one way, it will hold onto that momentum till the end.
