Forums - Sony - Japan gets Final Fantasy Tactics on PSN. What about the rest of us?

Following last month's release of Final Fantasy VII's International Edition on the Japanese PSN's PSOne Game Archives, Square Enix has also put the original Final Fantasy Tactics  online.

Yep, this is the PSOne game, not Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. It's being sold as a premium game for JPN¥ 1,000 (US$ 10). If you happen to speak Japanese and have a Japanese PSN account then this sounds like a pretty good deal. Used copies of this game generally go for double that.

Tactics is accompanied by two other PSOne games: Arubarea no Otome and Zeus Carnage Heart Second. All three games are playable on a PS3 or a PSP.

Man, that Japanese PSOne Archive just keeps on growing. Anybody else bummed out / getting insanely jealous because of this? I'm more of the latter, personally. On a semi-related note, I wonder what Yasumi Matsuno's up to now. The man's like a god among hardcore tactical RPG fans.

When do you think they will finally give everyone else great games like FFVII, Tactics, Xenogears, etc?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

they should release the PSP version on the store.
i really want it.

I dunno why but I'm gonna say the relationship with MS has something with NA/EU not getting any of this. But maybe It's just me, but with that said WOTL>>>>FFT.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I hate cosnpiracy theories, but I feel the same way in the depths of my gut. There seems to be absolutely no reason to make these games exclusive to Japan's PSN, especially when SE isn't doing so hot and with the world recession only getting worse. There's no need for localization, and they can make so much easy cash from re-selling an previously made game to an hungry audience.

I made a thread a few months ago asking what Square Enix's rationale is for not releasing a SINGLE game for the PS3 this generation. They've used 3 arguments, which is that they felt that they wanted to stimulate competition for helping the little guy at the beginning/before this generation (Xbox 360), they wanted to penetrate the Western market, and that they felt that multiplat games make more cash than they would if exclusive.

Those 3 arguments are either null, illogical, and not practiced today. The only thing I can really think up is that MS has something to do with this. If that does sound illogical and pure conspiracy, then tell me what other rationale SE has for not doing what a company should be doing: making money.

still have the original with case and all :D

hey... *adds that to game library* forgot about that

I know my MS conspiracy thingy sounds fanboyish and I honestly hope I'm wrong but this all just seems rather weird.

I still have Final Fantasy Tactics for my PS1. I'm thinking that Sony is not going to put a lot of PS1 games on the PSN until sales of physical Playstation games slow down and currently sales for PS3 games are in a upswing all over the world. Therefore its my opinion that the library of PSOne games will not dramatically increase until near the end of the PS3's life cycle. Also I think that Nintendo and Microsoft aren't any/much better at putting games on the VC and XBox Live arcade.

@ Chris Hu

You're clearly being sarcastic... right?

@ Akvod

I'm being serious. Also the reason I think that their are so many more JRPG's for the PSOne on the Japanese PSN is because they all sold better in Japan when they where available for the PS1.
