Forums - Nintendo - Two Punch-Out!! reviews out so far.

Official Nintendo Magazine gave it a 91% a while back. Now, according to Metacritic, Nintendo Power have given it a 8.5.

Do you think/hope this game will continue to get stellar reviews? I sure hope so.

I have never trusted any review: I used to like Eurogamer, but after the perfect score for Fable II and the 7 to Mad World...

I think that the game will not get very high scores: this time it's not because it's on Wii, but because it's a very niche title. It really feels old school, at least judging by the videos, and I don't know how many reviewers will like this. For example, reading IGN's preview, Casamassina didn't seem very excited. I think it will end up having a 82 media. But I do not care, it's a sequel to my second favourite game ever and probably my game of the year.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll love this game to death no matter what, but it's always nice to see a game you like get the recognition it deserves, you know?

You know when they say gamers care to much about sales? Well... the same applies to grades in reviews.

Uh... I don't see how I care too much about reviews when I openly state that I'm going to buy and love the game ._.

Yeah, of course it's true: I mean, I don't care about reviews, but I always check Metacritic out and I probably know every single average my games have, so I completly aggree. But since the release of Metroid Prime 3 I understood that, as a Wii owner, the day I'd have seen a game I was looking forward to getting the media it deserves had yet to come. After it we had Super Mario Galaxy, but I honestly believe that it's one of the few examples of "not underrated" Wii titles, along with Zack & Wiki and World of Goo. But I don't mean to go OT, so I have to stop here!

Yeah, but you say "Yeah, I'm sure I'll love this game to death no matter what, but it's always nice to see a game you like get the recognition it deserves, you know?".

I couldn't care less. I want to play and enjoy the game. If it turns out to be good, the others are missing, not me.

When I check reviews, I read the text, and rarely look at scores. When in doubt, the only thing that matters to me is opinions in boards such like these.

Haha, no worries :) Yeah, I agree with you. I rarely check reviews for my purchases, either (only in very rare cases where I'm 50-50 torn between getting the game or not), but I find it fun to browse Metacritic and see what the games I like/love have gotten.

Thing is, if I love a game and it gets trashed by reviewers, the sales will likely suffer, and if the sales suffer, the developer suffers. I don't want developers of a game I love to suffer. See my reasoning?

I'm not so sure that independent reviewers will score it quite as high as this (as is usually the case) but I do think we'll see some very good reviews!
People tend to forget that scores below 9 or even 8.5 are still very good!
Whether or not eventual scores are deserved remains to be seen (on my part) until the game is played.
