Forums - General Discussion - Is Britian Turning Into A Totalitarian State ?

And here was me thinking that this would be a thread about Michael Savage being banned from the UK.

Instead, I get an article citing two cases, each which happened 7 and 3 years ago respectively, and each where the people were released and later cleared.

The fact that these people were freed shows that they didn't break the laws set fourth by the Government, rather that other people misinterpreted them (particularly the school incident).

If it really was a Government initiative, don't you think they would have gone after some larger fish? Like the BNP, for example. Or some of the more right-winged news papers.

I hope to hell that the libertarian party can take off in America and replace the Republicans. Otherwise we're doomed to become like the UK, Australia, and Germany.

This modern tyranny you speak of has a name, it is called Liberalism. It's not just the UK, but all Western governments are in danger of it.

Extreme conservatives are no better than extreme liberals. They just want to impose different things.

That's why every democracy needs libretarians to come into power every few generations and tear down everything that's been built up.

Everything starts with good intentions and has good intentions... at first... then grows bloats and multiplies into problems.

No, those were just examples, which regardless was ridiculous in the first place for them to be arrested.

Now, the point of the article was to show how the British people are loosing their freedom of speech and the ridiculous of how a politically incorrect joke, ect can land you up to 7 years in jail.

Except for one minor point. It was conservatives that built the country, and it is the Liberals that have been busy trying to tear it apart since the 60's.

How's the weather up there on your pedestal my leige? would you like us lowly liberals to get you some tea your highness?

/sarcasm

Seriously Tyranlical most of the non-liberals (like Maffoo, Halogamer (I know he's neo-con), etc...) on this site gain my respect because they don't make these kinds of elitest comments blindly.

Also, most people don't readily fear liberalism and fear that it is the single cause of all the worlds ills like this.

--edit--

I'm sorry Tyranical, maybe I'm being a bit harsh with that statement. I do appologise, it was a bit heated.

The only problem with liberalism is when people try to support authortiative liberalism.

When you specifically change laws to enforce a liberal agenda... the end result is going to be a disaster.  Taking way freedom to make people equal is a bad idea.'

Instead liberalism should be focused on changing the culture of people and getting peoples ideas themselves to change... to make people more generous naturally rather then force people to give away larger then their fair share etc.

Modern Liberalism that through frustration resorts to force is no better then neo-consvervatism.

^ I do not support authoritarian governments and I hope most liberals don't. I agree with your ideal view of liberlism and I like to think I am the good kind of liberal.

Libretarians will never take off because they believe in treating everyone equally.  It's kinda hard to lure in voters that way.

"Vote for us... you'll... get treated just the same as the people who didn't vote for us!"

It's the same reason why the Christian Church through out all the religious dogma that suggested "You'll get in heaven whether you beleive and follow gods way or not!"

Bad for recruiting.

That and some groups of libretarians go crazy with the stunts to parody other people.  Toys for Guns comes to mind.

Yeah, there's hardly any freedom of speech left in Europe.

For example, you can't openly say you're against immigration because liberals and socialists will call you a racist and you will be hanged.
