I think it's pretty sad that some of the same folks who defended Microsoft for actually BUYING exclusives so it would NEVER come to a Playstation (or Nintendo format for that matter), are pissed off about a T_I_M_E_D exclusive in ONE region.

Well, as mentioned, boohoo, Sony & Nintendo fans have been dealing with this kind of stuff the whole gen. It's Micrsosoft who entered a race to "kill off" the competition, THAT'S trying to screw over gamers. At least Ghostbusters is coming to the 360.

Sorry about the rant, I just think this complaining is quite pathetic.

Buying exclusives? To the best of my knowledge the things MS has purchased are timed exclusives and exclusive content to make their versions better. Sony was and still is the king of Moneyhatting, so I don't get your point here bro.

Because we know how great the DLC for Fallout 3 really is. x.o

Another thing, Sony are doing it so they can release the movie and game together on 1 blu-ray disc. They have been talking about the idea for months. It's just they didn't mention Ghostbusters, probably because it was supposed to be a surprise. Hense the reason for them gaining the publishing rights. I understand that you think there was no real reason for it but Sony seemed to have a decent idea and tried to go with it. If Sony didn't have the publishing rights, there might have been a possibility the release date would be approaching and they wouldn't have a game to put on the blu-ray. It's not nearly as big of a deal as the 1 year wait that the Sony fans had to do for Eternal Sonata or Bioshock or the few months timed exclusivity of Lost Planet and The Orange Box..I don't think there will be that massive of a change of the release dates of the games.

I understand the movie thing, but that doesn't change the fact that the game will still sell crap. Fallout 3 was found to be, overall superior on the 360 when compared to the PS3 version, by the reviews. This movie is complete proof that Sony is using the videogame industry to bring relevance to their dwindling electronics brand.

So this should only happen to quality titles that will sell well?

Technically the only usual reason timed exclusives are purchased are to hurt the sales of another brand offering the same title. It is a demand killer, so yes, it is to gather more consumers to your system if they want the game enough. This is the most underhanded gen i've ever seen.

So basically. its only because Sony is doing it?  Because if it was Microsoft you would be okay with it? Since the number would only be 60-62 million of pissed off fans, you wouldnt be one of those so its alright?

When I say this is most underhanded gen, do you actually believe I'm using a double standard?

Coming from you, absolutely

Then you know nothing about me. Who are the only two brands who have been moneyhatting between this gen and last gen? This gen is a battle between the PS3 and 360 over timed exclusivity, DLC and more useless shit. I don't have a double standard at all.

Sony knows no one gives a damn about Ghostbusters and wont sell anywhere near a million. They just want to get a one up on Microsoft;however, the choice they made was one of the dumbest decisions ever. This will go down in history as one of the biggest money wasters of the gen.

Sony hardly made the move just to get a 'one up' on MS.

"The game is scheduled to hit the streets June 19 alongside the Blu-Ray edition of the classic movie."

It's a business decision. Promote the Blu-ray with the exclusive release of the game across all Sony platforms.

As for one of the biggest money wasters, seen as we don't know how much, if any, money changed hands, I doubt it will.

Ok, so say this happens. My question still stands, as to who Sony's target demographic are for this game.

I wasn't responding to that question, I was refuting your above quoted statement.

Sony's target demographic? The current gamers on the PS2, PS3 and PSP and mutliplatform owners, who are interested in the game

Depending on the level of advertising, they could also be planning on appealing to new gamers.

So if someone other than S.T.A.G.E. said that, you'd not view it as them applying a double standard? That's a double standard!

Well it would only be a double standard if that other person you speak of actually existed, and I did not call them out on it.

That is why as they grow up they have parents who enjoyed it and find it to be something good for their kids to watch. I already know of a few people on the forums who mentioned this same thing.

Yeah...if their parents can even remember Ghostbusters. Do you want to know what most parents today let their kids watch? Disney flix. Ghostbusters?....that consisted of seasons, so its harder to come by and the movies are only seen if the parents have the DVD's which of course Sony is trying to get them to buy again.

I own the Ghostbusters 1 + 2 DVD set, picked it up a little over a year ago. I am pretty sure my little girl will end up watching it. Just like how little girls know what The Wizard of Oz is, even if it is over 70 years old.

Parents.

Wanna pick up Ghostbusters 1+ 2 again on Blu Ray...so you can see their pores?

If a parent needs to buy his/her child a game for their birthday and see something like Ghostbusters sitting on the shelf, they will know what it is. They will know that it isn't bad for their children. Odds are it may be picked up.

That is a rarity, if the child actually knows what it is.

Yeah because I am an old fart myself, I doubt I will be able to remember. What do you think, that when people hit around 40 they just randomly start forgetting shit? If they see it I am sure they will remember what it is, especially considering how big it was back when they were younger.

Come on bro, you can't be serious.

#2.

I will pick it up if I choose so. Whether it is to "see their pores" or not is irrelevant. Grow up.

#3.

You have an answer for everything don't you?

P.S. I wanted to write a lot more but I have to leave work. I wil edit the post when I get home.

Let just say I wont hold me breath for that arguement

I was referring to the DLC from Fallout 3. I've heard not so many great things about it since it came out. If we're going by reviews, I'm not sure how well justified the 360 exclusive DLC is.

I was referring to the actual game.

weird. I wasn't. I was referring to the moneyhatting that probably went down for the DLC. I don't have proof so whatever.

There is one thing that is for sure this gen. When DLC is exclusive or superior, moneyhatting is invloved.

As for the movie thing, dwindling electronics brand? It might be but putting a movie and game on the same blu-ray will be cheaper then producing 2 seperate blu-ray discs or products that may or may not sell.

Sony without the gaming division would've been a dwindling brand. Their marketshare is a hell of a thing. Putting a movie and game on Blu Ray isn't cheap at all. Sony wanted to make the Blu Ray version of the Ghosbusters movie relevant.

Yet again, it fascinates me to think that you feel you have any knowledge of how much it costs to put 2 different things on 1 blu-ray yet completely ignore the process it would take to market, package and create the blu-ray discs seperately. I'm assuming that the Ghostbuster game is going to come with the movies automatically. On a side note, I'm sure they will still release the Ghostbusters Blu-Ray by itself but the one with the game and the movie would win over some people who have both the PS3 and 360 or PS3 and Wii. I still don't see the point of pushing back the release date, which is the whole point of this thread, not really the relevance of Ghostbusters on this generation. But it's hard to argue with somebody who is so stuck on their own opinion. "Yes. Putting 1 thing on a blu-ray is hard but two things! That's madness and expensive!"

I have no gripe with putting the game on two discs. It's cheaper. I was saying putting anything on Blu Ray isn't cheap at all. I don't know if it's a two disc set at all.

Where are you getting the idea that it will sell like crap? I really don't think you know how this game will sell because this is one of those games that's popularity is actually up in the air.Nobody actually knows if the Ghostbuster series is dead, dying or waiting to be revitalized...We have no current Ghostbusters trends to compare it to. All we have is a hyped game, and a blu-ray release of the series. Just because you don't care about the game doesn't mean that nobody else does.

If you doubt what i'm saying, show me the demographic in which Ghostbusters is focused on.

The Ghostbusters are focused on the nostalgia. Much like Inspector Gadget was in the 90's focused at those who grew up on the 80's tv show to introduce the idea to a younger generation in hope that those parents will share the idea to their children. Of course the hype behind this game has absolutely NOTHING to do with the recently announced new Ghostbusters movie which was announced earlier at a movie convention. e.e

Nostalgia wont save Ghostbusters. Nostaglia couldn't even save the Ninja Turtles (Which was a bigger hit back then) videogames which sold like crap, even in the face a new movie.

However, I now understand what you guys are saying. However, am I right in thinking that the game as of yet does not have a publisher for the 360 and pc version?

Until this deal, Atari was the publisher for all versions, in all regions.  That has been the case since November of 2008.  The only change is that now SCEE will publish the PS2 and PS3 versions in Europe in June.  Atari will publish all versions in the US in June.  Atari will publish the 360, PC, Wii, and DS versions in Europe at a later date.

I don't care about TOV anyway, so that wasn't my focus at all. The last JRPG I'm ever going to focus on is FFXIII and the action game Versus on the PS3. Ghostbusters is a show I grew up with, so I believe my input is relevant based on experience. It's true that I don't like Sony very much because of their practices, but if you were talking about the computer industry I wouldn't have too much of a smile on my face for Microsoft either. Microsoft hasn't gotten to their evil side yet and is actually doing more things right then wrong this gen. When they finally get in first place in a gen and start acting like maniacle bastards, get back to me.

i dunno what theyre planning to do with making gb an exclusive. As you said yourself, i dont see it shipping millions of copies. Me no understand
