If this is true though, I might have to get a DS. I love G/S almost as much as R/B... And if I did, I'd probably end up getting both. I'm a sucker like that.

Actually, I usually complete the game on one version, then use the other to play through the game a billion and a half times. ^_^

Why are people so hyped at the possibility of these remakes?

Ive only played Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Platinum, but to me they were the exact same game. Slightly better graphics, and a slightly different (but no more relevant) story.
I felt that everything else including the battles and general progression through the game was the same.

So what exactly would make a remake of these games better? What could they possibly change in them to make them any different from the originals?

I'd probably just buy both.
