Didnt sinobi and someone else say Famitsu had Made in Ore at 79k?

Yeah, that must be a typo, thx

A few weeks ago when PS3 2009 passed PS3 2008 YTD I questioned whether it would be able to build up a big enough lead to still be ahead when it caught up with 2008's MGS4 bump. With the help of the FFXIII demo it should do that quite easily now.

Famitsu:

Through week 18:

PS3 2009: 472k
PS3 2008: 385k

Through week 24 (MGS4 week):

PS3 2008: 504k

Media Create:

Through week 18:

PS3 2009: 495k
PS3 2008: 393k

Through week 24 (MGS4 week):

PS3 2008: 513k

With six weeks to go PS3 should already be ahead of it in 2-3 weeks time by Famitsu, and 1-2 weeks time by Media Create.

I must again toot Valkyria's horn! Woo!

Keep chuggin!

Extremely low sales for PS3 and Wii. Under 25k during Golden Week is pathetic, nothing else. Which one of the two "wins" a week versus the other has become a completely useless feat as both are underperforming.

Nintendo and Sony must do something or console gaming in Japan might sonn become a thing of the past, which will have severe concequences for those that like Japanese games on consoles.

japan is waiting for a ps3 pric cut

Well, PS3 only sold around 10k/week through Golden Week last year so it's all relative.

Sony could probably do it with a price cut or slim to get above 30k regularly.  Many people were saying that PS3 development would be dropped in favor of the Wii in Japan.  Honestly, that doesn't seem to be happening as much as some were wishing as PS3 is getting quite a few jRPG announcements that could have easily been for the Wii.  The PS3 base in Japan seems to be easier to sell jRPGs to even if they are fairly niche.

I think both need to do a price drop of 10,000 yen soon to get back to where they were - for Nintendo to be back to it's former glory and for Sony to do 200% better rather than 100% better than before.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Pricecuts hardly lead to increased sales, they're meant to keep sales at a steady level. A slim version will not have as big an effect on consoles as it has on handhelds. I don't see how 30k regularly is possible. Remember that sequels to most of the PS2 era best sellers are already released on PS3: DMC, Minna no Golf, Winning Eleven, MGS, Yakuza.

And development has definitely shifted to Wii, with Samurai Warriors 3, Tales of Graces, Monster Hunter 3, Dragon Quest X, Crystal Bearers and a lot of small stuff like Arc Rise Fantasia, Muramasa, Valhalla Knights. If PS3 had all these games it would have a much better outlook than now with GT5 and FFXIII as the big ones, but aside from that not too much. I don't see End of Eternity move consoles for more than a week. Kingdom Hearts is the last big title that needs a home and will have a major impact.

Yes, relative to itself PS3 is doing fantastic. But compared to PS2 both Wii and PS3 are doing very bad.
