Forums - Gaming - Which console is the best for sports games ?

When it comes to HD experience and playing online with your friends. I prefer the Xbox 360. You get more bang for your buck. The PS3 is "meh" considering its online is free but some PS3's are not online like how the Xbox 360's are. Microsoft touts Xbox Live where as Sony doesn't tout PSN that much. So more so on a online experience and HD the winner is Xbox 360.

which sports do you favour the most?

Football, hockey, basketball, golf, soccer, boxing, baseball... almost everything

Note: Motion Plus is nearly here for the Golf and Tennis

I'm a bit confused, you own a Wii, and yet you don't have sports games for it?

Isn't Wii supposed to have the best sports games based off reviews?

Anyway good luck finding what you want ;)

only have the Resident Evil and Mario stuff... For sports game, i'm looking for realism.

I don't think the wii deliver the best experience for sports fans like me.

The enormous majority of sports games are multiplat.

However, I know that MLB: The Show (baseball) is a PS3 exclusive series (07, 08, 09 so far). Don't think the 360 has any exclusive sports games at the moment (it does, however, have an open world snowboarding game coming up soon).

Football: Pro Evo is best, multi.

Hockey: NHL ** is best, multi

Basketball: NBA 2K and NBA Live are multi.

Golf: Tiger Woods is multi

American Football: Madden is multi

Boxing: Fight Night is multi.

Baseball: MLB The Show is PS3 exclusive, and far superior to MLB 2K, which is multi.

I suggest the Xbox 360 for Sports games.

Why?
Because sports games are social/friends games also.

The social console = Xbox 360, aka Xbox Live.

The console with the biggest community of players online,
Party System (up to 8 players),
Cross voice chat,
Custom BGM in every game.

and in my opinion, 360 has a better controller for Sports games (incurved analog sticks, ergonomic grip, bigger and heavier for sports fans)

The Xbox 360 is also more affordable, with games often at low prices.

It's up to you!
Game on!

If your looking for the most realism then it's been under your nose the whole time, it's already in the Wii line up, particularly the most recent games like Virtua Tennis 2009, PES 2009, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10

If you don't know what I mean after reading those review and previews then your on your own ;)

Seriously, another one of your "which is best" threads lol,

Stick with your Wii if you like sports games, 360/ps3 have almost exactly the same sports games, earlier ports were better on 360 but these days both run and look the same so can't go wrong with either.....

well wii own both ps3 and 360 if we're talking about sports games. ps360 have only better graphics, but inferior gameplay. wii only lacks a serious boxing game and maybe hockey(dunno, i'm not interested in either). i say stick with wii for football, golf, tennis, baseball(i mean Power Pros>>>>any other baseball game), snowboarding and maybe skateboarding(Skate It is great game after all).
if you really want a second console for sports i say take 360 - ps3 have only MLB(rest of the exclusive sports games are crap not to mention that multiplatform games on ps3 work usually worse than on 360 like Skate).

Stop spewing FUD everyone (waron)!  The guy does "not" have a xbox 360 so why in the world would he already have friends to play on xbox live?  But he may want to add some of the good people here on VGchartz to his friends list, but until then your point is moot.  All multiplat games since 2008 are the "same" on both consoles (ps360), so he cannot go wrong with either choice (unbiased statement).  If console specifics are in question then he would still have to pay for online with xboxlive (30-49.99 a year), or he could get all his updates for free along with online play for free on the ps3 (psn-playstation network).

Instead of people posting Fud about their favorite console, just allow the facts to speak for themselves.

If its Sports + Realism, get the Wii for the controller.

If you want realistic Graphics, either PS3 or 360 will do.
