Forums - Gaming - Pyramid Head's Game of the Gen so far

In 10 years when we look back on this gen and it's games right now, what will we remember?

- Won't be a shooter, they keep getting trumped and all of today's shooters will be surpassed

- Won't be a sports game for much the same reasons

- Won't be an RPG as not enough people play them (tho my faves of last gens are all rpgs i think)

- Won't be a racing game as they just keep getting improved upon

- Won't be some big cinematic action game, as those as well get surpassed

So what will be that game we remember ten years from now?

Wii Fit

end of story

Took videogames from being a waste of time, to being tools, that still are fun to play.

It is not only the best game, but the most important game for that reason.  I remember loving Gears of War, Fallout 3, SMG, KZ2 etc, but not as much as I notice the 20 pounds I've lost on Wii Fit.

It's also the ultimate trojan horse with the attach rate.  Even improving the odds of dating someone and then being like 'oh you have a wii!' when you go to their house.

Now if you want to talk sales . . .

So in my mind, no game has brought as much, will be remembered as much, or inovated as much, as Wii Fit

Game of Gen

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I did this...

Final Fantasy 7... 10 years on, its remembered.

Metal Gear Solid... 10 years on, its remembered.

Gran Turismo... 10 years on, its remembered.

Mario 64, 10 years on, its remembered.

^^^

none of those were games of the gen

solid was wildly overrated, thank god people made other stealth games

gran turismo? try playing it now, its not possible with other ones out now. cant go back in time.

FF7 was pretty polarising, 50 percent hate it, 50 percent love it (i hate it)

Mario 64 drove me to be a pc only gamer that entire gen

About 99% of the world population would probably disagree with you.

Them 4 games are practically what that gen was about. Obviously there are some others what could be added in, but them 4 are your most remembered today.

And i didnt even mension Ocarina.

didnt like ocarina either . . .

all im saying is wii fit is adding people to this thing, and making more of an impression on those who use it, than any game could

im not talking about game geeks, im talking about the world

if you stop a guy on the street and say 'ultima was amazing for starting wrpgs!' he will look confused.  if you say that at eb, some guy with no girlfriend will turn around and be like 'NO!  it was wizardy!'

so i'll give you that, your list appeals to those people way more

in ten years the game market will grow and change, and wii fit will be more important than gta 4, gears of war, or killzone 2

any post where someone just declares a game the best of the gen or anything like that is a fail.

this was to prove a point

i still feel that this game has brought more new stuff and interesting stuff to gaming than anything else this gen, but for me to just proclaim it is lame.

Like i said...

99% of the world would disagree with you.

And if you stop a guy on the street and said...
"Hey, coming round to my house so we can play Wii Fit!!" You would be rejected.
On the other hand...
"Hey, lets go play some CoD!" You would probably get a favourable answer.

Basicly going by your answers, gaming in the future will be full with casuals.
I feel sorry for gaming.
