Forums - Gaming - Was this the week that changed the tide of the console war?

Today I have counted five threads on the Japanese PS3 numbers and at least three on the fact that the PS3 version of Arkham Asylum will have one exclusive challenge mode.

Do PS3 fans really wonder why I percieve everything on this site to be a failure relative to hype?

Fixed.

you know when megaman2 is back, threads become deserts of dry, windy lifeless sand, dehydration induced dellusions. lol

ot, no

ot ot, how many times can u ask the same question, relating to the same piece of news about japans PS3 sales, before we realise that your just repeating yourself.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This very well could be the tide for the PS3... in fact, it more seems like a sunami!

C'mon Sony and PS3.. give it your all or go for bust!!!

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!

Waves are one thing, the tide is another thing. They are are not the same.

They dont wonder, they think they know.  Unfortunately they're largely incorrect.

However there can be no denying the general feeling on this site that many Sony exclusives and features (for example Home) were hyped up to be more than they eventuated as by Sony fans here.

You know very well that only the newcommers (and a few the die hard fanboys) to this Guess_The_Sales game are expecting unreasonably high sales and impacts of different good looking games and products. The rest (majority) is not overhypey. So not everything on this site is a failure relative to hype.

It has obviously changed in Japan.... and will continue to do so when FFXIII is actually released.

Seriously...a freakin DEMO for Final Fantasy sold consoles. Imagine what the actual game will do.

Come on Nintendians, the OP does not talk about the PS3 vs Wii cause that will not change much outside Japan, he (and everyone else) is talking about PS3 vs XBox360.
The Wii won the generation. There. Happy?

interesting enough that OP only posted 360 number for Japan and no total number. He also never mentioned it's only about PS3 and 360. I'm not sure why anyone has to automatically assume console war does not include Wii.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

The Wii will never be caught sales wise this generation. But there's a good chance that whoever owns a Wii will want to own one of the other two to complete the gaming experience. And there we have a "war" going. That's my take.

I miss DonkeyKong88.
